  • Shoe Carnival steps up revenue growth in Q4

    EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Quarterly net earnings at Shoe Carnival fell to $3.2 million, compared with $3.3 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue rose 13.1% to $205.7 million from $181.9 million, and same-store sales edged up 0.5%.

    For the full year, profit rose to $29.3 million from $26.4 million, sales increased 12.1% to $855 million, and same-store sales advanced 4.5%.

    In fiscal 2013, the company said it expects to open 30 to 35 new stores, relocate seven stores and close five to seven stores.

  • American Greetings to go private

    CLEVELAND — American Greetings announced that it has agreed to be taken private by a group led by some of its top executives for about $602 million.

    The executive group was formed by the Weiss family — including chairman Morry Weiss; CEO Zev Weiss; director, president and COO Jeffrey Weiss and others — and will buy the shares of the company they don't already own for $18.20 a piece in cash. This amounts to a 13% premium to American Greetings' closing price of $16.10 last Thursday.

  • Aaron's plans 125 stores and 750 retail jobs for 2013

    Atlanta -- Rental chain Aaron's announced at its 2013 National Managers Meeting in Nashville that the company plans to open 125 stores in 2013 and hire 750 new employees.

    Aarons added 950 new jobs across the U.S. and Canada last year.

  • Shoe Carnival Q4 profit slips; on track to open 30 stores in 2013

    Evansville, Ind. -- Shoe Carnival reported Monday that net earnings for the quarter ended Jan. 28 slipped to $3.2 million, compared with $3.3 million in the year-ago period.

  • Dunkin' Donuts to open seven restaurants in northern Utah

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts said Monday it has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with existing franchisee Sizzling Donuts to open seven new restaurants in northern Utah.

    The first restaurant is slated to open in 2013, with the remainder by 2020.

  • Leslie's Swimming Pool to open 48 stores this spring

    Phoenix -- Leslie’s Poolmart said Monday it will grand-open 15 Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies stores across 10 states on April 5, as part of the company’s plan to open 48 new stores this spring.

    The new stores opening on April 5 include: Tucson, Ariz.; Pleasanton, Calif.; Rohnert Park, Calif.; Cockeysville, Md.; Gastonia, N.C.; Las Vegas; New Hyde Park, N.Y.; West Chester, Ohio; Spartanburg, S.C.; Harlingen, Texas; Lake Jackson, Texas; Sherman, Texas; Wylie, Texas; Manassas, Va.; and Virginia Beach.

     

  • Regency Centers increases energy savings by 75% annually

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Regency Centers announced Thursday that, through its 2012 “greengenuity” program, it increased annual energy savings by 75%, achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for three projects, and tripled the amount of construction and demolition material recycled during the year.
     

  • Jones Lang LaSalle closes sale of Myrtle Beach open-air portfolio

    Myrtle Beach, S.C. -- Jones Lang LaSalle said Thursday it has closed the sale of Windy Hill Shopping Center and North Village Center on behalf of Equity One.

    America’s Realty purchased the two adjacent shopping centers totaling 128,821 sq. ft. and anchored by Roses, Goodwill, Dollar General and Cititrends.
