  • Crazy 8 signs into Alameda South Shore Center

    Alameda, Calif. — Crazy 8 has signed a 10-year lease for a 3,117-sq.-ft. space at the Alameda South Shore Center in Alameda, Calif. The deal will bring the 594,000 open-air lifestyle center up to an occupancy rate of 92%. The new store is slated to open this fall.

    SRS Real Estate Partners represented Crazy 8 in the transaction. Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank represented Jamestown, the shopping center’s owner.

  • Sport Chalet continues turnaround efforts amid Q1 results

    LOS ANGELES — Sporting goods retailer Sport Chalet swung to a loss in the first quarter, as it continues turnaround efforts that include a new store concept, closing under-performing stores and reducing staff. 

    The company generated a loss of $2.8 million for the quarter, compared with a profit of $100,000 in the year-ago period. Sales dipped 2.8% to $81.5 million from $83.8 million, and same-store sales dropped 0.7%.

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys “R” Us plans to open more than 100 stores, including new locations, the relocation and conversion of 14 stores to its side-by-side format and 22 new licensed stores. The openings represent the net addition of more than 900,000 sq. ft. of retail space to the company’s store portfolio.

    Wayne, N.J. – Toys “R” Us on Wednesday unveiled its global growth for 2013, with the planned opening of more than 100 stores, including new locations, the relocation and conversion of 14 stores to its side-by-side format, and 22 new licensed stores.     LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Strength in ladies accessories and lingerie contributed to a 1% second quarter same store sales increase that helped Dillard’s exceed profit forecasts.

  • REI plans fall 2014 opening in Knoxville

    Seattle -- REI announced plans to open a store in Knoxville, Tenn., in fall 2014.

    The 23,500-sq.-ft. store, at Papermill Plaza, will include a bike shop that provides expert assembly and repair services, and a community space to host outdoor-related classes, presentations and events.

  • H.H. Gregg opens new Indiana store

    Indianapolis – H.H. Gregg is opening a new store in Bloomington, Ind. on Aug. 15. The new location at 240 North Gates Street will replace the previous location at 606 West Gourley Pike.

  • Target develops French pharmacy solution

    Target stores in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec will feature pharmacies under the Brunet banner based on an agreement reached with the McMahon Distributeur pharmaceutique division of Canadian food and drug retailer Metro, Inc.

    The agreement comes as Target is preparing to open the first of 25 stores this fall in Quebec. Target entered Canada earlier this year and plans to open a total of 124 stores in its first year of operation.
