Tenant Update

Minnetonka, Minn. -- Centro Properties Group said that Way to Go Sports recently opened a 2,089-sq.-ft. store at Westwind Plaza, located in Minnetonka, Minn.

Westwind Plaza is owned by Centro Properties Group, based in New York City.

Youngstown, Ohio -- Cafaro Co. said Wednesday that teen retailer Justice is opening new stores at two of the company’s malls -- at Sundusky Mall, in Sandusky, Ohio, and at Kennedy Mall, in Dubuque, Iowa.

The new stores will open by early May. The Sandusky location will occupy over 4,000 sq. ft. of space, while the store at Kennedy Mall will be just over 3,300 sq. ft.

Voorhees, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) said that Coffee Works Cafe has opened its second location on Town Center Boulevard of its Voorhees Town Center property.

More is on the horizon for Voorhees Town Center, as the municipal offices of Voorhees, N.J., will relocate to the second level of the mall in spring 2011. Also in 2011, first-to-market Firecreek Restaurant + Bar and Doghouse Gourmet Burgers are slated to join Voorhees Town Center’s Town Center Boulevard.

With the large amount of excess store space available for lease in 2010, more retailers used pop-up stores this past holiday season than ever before.  This concept is now transforming into a viable strategy that has a life beyond the holiday season rush. In 2011 innovative retailers will employ it as a year-round approach that complements their core business strategy.

Indianapolis  -- Simon Property Group will assume leasing, management, and marketing duties at The Shops at Montebello, in Rosemead, Calif., effective Feb. 1.

"We are pleased to take on the property management functions of this high-quality asset at the request of the institutional owner," said Rick Sokolov, Simon's president and COO.

Aguora Hills, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased restaurant space at Twin Oaks Shopping Center, located in Aguora Hills, Calif., to Subway.

Subway has leased 1,175 sq. ft., bringing the center to 94% leased. The tenant is slated to open in April.

Hackettstown, N.J. -- Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development Corp. said that Party City has leased 15,000 sq. ft. at Mansfield Commons, located in Hackettstown, N.J.

The 283,000-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a recently expanded Walmart and Kohl’s.

Charlotte, N.C. -- Crosland has announced new openings and tenant signings at various third-party managed and leased retail centers throughout the Charlotte, N.C., area.

Ruby’s Gift opened a 1,323-sq.-ft. store at Colony Shops in early December, the retailer’s third Charlotte location.

Om Spa Chiropractic & Wellness is relocating its business from The Arlington to the newly renovated The Villa shopping center, and is slated to open the 3,048-sq.-ft. facility in January.

Manville, N.J. -- Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development Corp. said that Dollar Zone has leased 15,000 sq. ft. and Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies has leased 2,970 sq. ft. at Marketplace at Manville, located in Manville, N.J.

Both retailers are slated to open this spring.

Walmart, A&P Supermarket and Reading Cinema anchor the 275,354-sq.-ft. center, which is now 100% leased.

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Jacksonville, Fla., at Plantation Plaza to Panache: An Aveda Salon.   

The full-service salon leased 2,992 sq. ft. of retail space, bringing the center to 93% leased. The salon, its second in the area, is slated to open spring 2011.

The 77,747-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Publix alongside national retailers such as Great Clips, Wendy’s and TCBY.
