Tenant Update

New York — Sarah’s Kitchen has signed a lease for a 9,150-sq.-ft. space at 270 Madison Ave., between East 39th and East 40th Streets in Midtown Manhattan. Expected to open in third quarter 2014, the eatery will occupy approximately 6,350 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 2,800 sq. ft. in a mezzanine.

PD Properties represented Sarah’s Kitchen, which is part of the same restaurant group that operates Delmonico’s Gourmet Food Market. Winick Realty Group represented the landlord, ABS Partners in the transaction.

Hingham, Mass. – Building #19, the New England closeout retailer, which recently shut its doors after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is planning to reopen at least a few stores as specialty closeout rug retailers under the banner of “The Rug Dept.”

Beachwood, Ohio — DDR Corp. has announced the completion of a $12 million redevelopment project at Sandy Plains Village, a power center located in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell.

The redevelopment installed a 60,000-sq.-ft. Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in a space formerly occupied by a traditional grocer. The new location is DDR’s 79th Wal-Mart store and the company’s eighth in the Atlanta market.

Houston — Simon Property Group has announced four new leases for The Galleria in Houston.

Rolex will open an 1,800-sq.-ft. store next summer in Galleria I. Taking 2,815 sq. ft. Tourbillon will open its first Houston store in Galleria II in the early summer of 2014. Tod’s will debut in Houston with a 2,000-sq.-ft. store opening in Galleria I in early summer 2015. Trina Turk will open a 1.400-sq.-ft. store in the fall of 2014 in Galleria I.

North Plainfield, Manahawkin, N.J. — The Stafford Park shopping center in Manahawkin, N.J. has named Levin Management as its exclusive leasing agent. The 350-acre mixed-use redevelopment project includes 400,000 sq. ft. of retail space, including anchor tenants Costco and Target. The site has received approval to add another 195,000 sq. ft. The new retail space includes several pad sites.

Wilmington, N.C. — Dick’s Sporting Goods and Marshalls will anchor Phase II of the 203,000-sq.-ft. Mayfaire Community Center in the master-planned 400-acre mixed-use community of Mayfaire in Wilmington, N.C. Harris Teeter anchors Phase I of the center.

Quebec City, Quebec – La Maison Simons will open a 113,000-sq.-ft. flagship at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, Ontario in spring 2016. The two-level Simons store will be the retailer’s first store in Ontario and represents a $52 million investment and will occupy a large portion of the existing Sears store as part of Square One's ongoing development projects.

Houston -- Simon Property Group announced today that four new, high-end retailers, Rolex, Tod's, Trina Turk and Tourbillon, will be added to the retail mix at The Galleria shopping center in Houston. Gucci, Tory Burch, Zara, Sephora and Club Monaco will also execute lease renewals and expansions in 2014. In addition, Chanel has renewed its lease and will be renovating the boutique.

New York  — DryClean NYC has signed a lease for a fourth location in Upper Manhattan, according to Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, Joseph A. Aquino, executive VP and Arthur Maglio of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group, who arranged the lease. The new store will open at 708 St. Nicholas Avenue, between 145 and 146th Streets.

This is the fifth lease the Retail Group has arranged in the building. The other four stores include Sugar Hill Medical Plaza, Unity Wines & Spirits, W Dental and Metro PCS.

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. — Mid-America Asset Management Inc. has announced six retail leases in four Chicago shopping centers.
