  • Nordstrom Rack announces second location in Brooklyn, N.Y.

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced that it plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Gateway Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The approximately 33,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2014. Gateway Center is owned and managed by Related Companies.  

    When it opens, the Gateway Center Nordstrom Rack will be the company's second Brooklyn location. The first Brooklyn Rack is set to open on Fulton Street in spring 2014.

  • Nursery Acres acquires Cabela’s in Grand Junction, Colo.

    Denver — Transwestern’s Denver office has announced that it brokered the acquisition by Nursery Acres L.P. of a 75,330-sq.-ft. Cabela’s retail store in Grand Junction, Colo. Built in 1983, the store sits on a 6.76-acre lot at Mesa Mall.

    Transwestern represented the buyer, Nursery Acres, which purchased the building to complete a 1031 exchange. The company plans to keep the property long-term. Faris Lee represented the seller, Macerich Mesa Mall Holdings LLC.

     

  • Cullinan appoints new property manager

    Peoria, Ill. — Cullinan Properties has appointed Robey R. Taylor as property manager at the Streets of St. Charles in St. Charles, Mo.

    Taylor brings 20 years of experience in property management — both in retail and office — in the St. Louis market to the post.

  • Amazon expands footprint in California

    Amazon.com is finalizing plans to open a new 1.2 million-sq.-ft. fulfillment center in Moreno Valley, Calif., which will create more than 1,000 full-time jobs ahead of the holiday shopping season.

    This will be Amazon’s fourth fulfillment center in the state. The company’s other sites are located in Patterson, San Bernardino and Tracy.

  • Golf Galaxy opening two interactive locations

    Pittsburgh — Golf Galaxy has announced the opening of two interactive retail locations. The new stores include the second Golf Galaxy in Missouri and the chain’s second location in Nevada.

    A 32,000-sq.-ft. interactive store will open November 1 at the Chesterfield Commons in Chesterfield, Mo.

    A 29,000-sq.-ft. interactive Golf Galaxy will open Nov. 1 in the Stephanie Street Power Center in Henderson, Nev.

    As of Aug. 3, the retailer operated 81 Golf Galaxy stores in 30 states and e-commerce websites.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts plans nine new stores in Reno

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with new franchise group, HT2 Franchising, LLC, to develop nine new restaurants throughout Reno, Nev. The first restaurant is expected to open in 2015 and the remainder by 2020.

    With this agreement, Dunkin' Donuts franchise opportunities are sold out in Reno, but opportunities exist to grow the brand throughout the West in Colorado and California.

  • RadioShack rolls out new concept stores, goes ‘retro’ in Fort Worth, Texas

    RadioShack is taking its new concept store to Philadelphia, Detroit and Fort Worth, but the specialty retailer is going retro for its hometown location in downtown Fort Worth’s Sundance Square.

    The Philly location can be found in Bakers Square Shopping Center at 2920 Roberts Ave., and the Detroit location in Gateway Marketplace at 1347 W. Eight Mile. And set to open Oct. 30, the Fort Worth location will be the first new concept store to feature a custom design.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods opening five stores Nov. 8

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods opens five new stores across the U.S. on Nov. 8. The stores will be located in Dover, Del., Palm Desert, Calif., West Des Moines, Iowa, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Findlay, Ohio.

    Dick’s will operate a total of 554 stores in the U.S. upon opening the five new stores. The Sioux Falls store will be the chain’s first store in South Dakota. This total will include three in Delaware, 32 in California, five in Iowa, and 38 in Ohio.
