  • Indianapolis area getting next-generation Cabela’s

    Outdoor retailer Cabela’s is bringing its smaller format, next-generation concept to the Indianapolis suburb of Noblesville.

    The store isn’t due to open until the fall of 2015 but Cabela’s tends to pre-announce store expansion plans well in advance of actual opening dates as its stores tend to be big news events in the communities where they are located.
    Construction is expected to begin later this at Interstate 69 and Campus Parkway in the new Saxony Campus development adjacent to Hamilton Town Center.

  • Walgreens opens on New Orleans Westbank

    Covington, La. Stirling Properties has announced the opening of a full-service Walgreens in Terrytown on the Westbank of New Orleans. The new drugstore stands on the site of a former shopping center anchored by an A&P Grocery store and an Eckerd Drug store.

  • Nordstrom delays Rack debut in Canada until 2017

    New York -- Nordstrom Inc. is delaying the opening of its Nordstrom Rack chain in Canada until 2017, in order to focus its attention on the launch of its full-line department stores there, The Globe and Mail reported.

    Nordstrom had initially planned to start opening Rack stores in Canada next year. But the company has decided to focus on  the openings of its six Canadian department stores (the first, in Calgary, is due to open this fall).

  • Big and Tall retailer takes on Big Apple

    Destination XL Group plans to open its first store in Manhattan this June and promises the city’s big and tall men an upscale experience at its store on 699 Sixth Avenue.

  • RH Gallery (Restoration Hardware), Boston

    RH (formerly called Restoration Hardware) continues its transformation from a hardware retailer to a lifestyle brand at its stunning Gallery store in Boston. The 37,670-sq.-ft. space, which took top honors in the 2014. A.R.E. Design Awards competition, is located in a landmark building in the heart of the city’s Back Bay.

  • Stanbery names partner for leasing and acquisitions

    Bexley, Ohio Stanbery Development has named Marc Hays as a partner. He will focus on finding locations for new developments and acquisitions as well as leasing.

  • Simon Property launches new business to invest in retail tech innovation

    Indianapolis -- Simon Property Group is launching a new business, Simon Venture Group, that will invest in retail innovation, focusing on technology opportunities that enhance the shopping experience.

    "We believe we have only scratched the surface on applying technology to the retail environment in innovative, interesting ways," said Mikael Thygesen, chief marketing officer of Simon Property Group.

  • Destination XL opens Manhattan store in June

    New York -- Destination XL Group, Inc. will open its first Manhattan store in June 2014. Located in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, the new DXL stores represent the company’s superstore format.

    As part of the company’s new redesign, the store will feature wider aisles and larger fitting rooms, as well as sofas, chairs and flat-screen televisions.
