  • Build-A-Bear Workshop Q4 profit surges

    St. Louis -- Build-A-Bear Workshop reported $11.8 million profit for the fourth quarter, more than double the $5.4 million profit it reported in the year ago period, amid continuing signs of a turnaround. The company’s performance driven by strong sales of licensed characters, including a line of “Frozen” stuffed animals.

    Revenue totaled $131.5 million for the quarter, up from $108.1 million last year.

  • Paster Properties announces new hires

    St. Paul, Minn. -- Paster Properties announced that John Kohler has joined the team as director of development, and Jason LaPlant has joined as accounting manager.

    As director of development, Kohler is responsible for driving the firm’s new development efforts, as well as managing ongoing projects within Paster’s Twin Cities portfolio. In his role as accounting manager, LaPlant oversees the company’s day-to-day accounting activities, monthly financial reporting and lease administration.

  • DDR appoints David J. Oakes CEO

    Beachwood, Ohio -- DDR Corp announced that David J. Oakes has been named the company’s new CEO, effectively immediately. Oakes has been DDR’s president and CFO since January 2013, and was senior executive VP and CFO for the three years prior. He succeeds Daniel Hurwitz, who stepped down December 31 by mutual agreement.

    "After a thorough and robust search process, the board is confident that David is the right person to lead DDR into the future," said chairman Terry Ahern.

  • Vineyard Vines makes Ohio debut at Easton Towne Center

    Columbus, Ohio -- Vineyard Vines, a retailer of preppy inspired clothing and accessories, has opened a 3,000-sq.-ft. store in Easton Town Center. The store is the brand’s third Midwest location after Chicago and St. Louis, and is part of a plan to open 10 more stores in major U.S. markets by the end of 2015.

  • Lots of Build-A-Bears under the tree in Q4

    Build-A-Bear Workshop was busy building a lot of bears this holiday season, if the retailer’s same store sales are any indication.

    The company reported that same store sales were up 9.9% for the quarter, with a 8.5 percent increase in North America and 14 percent increase in Europe. Build-A-Bear also saw an $11.8 million profit for the fourth quarter, more than double the $5.4 million profit it reported in the prior-year quarter.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts plans 46 new Indiana stores

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts is growing its presence in the Hoosier state. The company has signed multi-unit store development agreements with two existing franchise groups to develop 46 restaurants in Indiana during the next several years.
