  • North Face offers immersive experience on Fifth Avenue

    The great outdoors has come to Fifth Avenue — courtesy of The North Face.   The retailer, a division of VF Corp., is opening a two-level, 20,000-sq.-ft. flagship in the old Manufacturers Trust Company building, a New York City landmark of modernist architecture. (The official opening date is Oct. 26.)  
  • Warby Parker, University Village, Seattle

    Warby Parker goes back to the future — design-wise at its new store in Seattle.   The design recalls the classic library-inspired aesthetic of the brand’s first-ever store in downtown Manhattan, and is outfitted with light oak shelving, spacious marble tabletops and brass detailing.   It also features exposed metal ceiling beams, concrete flooring and skylights.   
  • Ikea on track for fifth store in Florida

    Ikea is expanding its presence in the Sunshine State.   The home furnishings giant is set to begin construction next month on a store in Jacksonville, its fifth location in Florida, with a planned opening in fall 2017, increasing the Swedish retailer’s presence in the Sunshine State.    Ikea has chosen Marcobay Construction, Lakeland, Fla., to serve as construction manager for the Jacksonville site work and store development project.

  • Save-A-Lot to open 75 stores in fiscal 2017

    Save-A-Lot may be facing a possible spin-off from parent company Supervalu, but the chain is still bullish about its future.    Supervalu is expected to announce the fate of its discount grocery banner next week, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported, with Toronto private equity firm Onex Corp. the leading bidder if Supervalu does pursue a sale. 
  • Ulta Beauty steps up store expansion, raises outlook

    A sizzling Ulta Beauty wowed the Street on Thursday, announcing aggressive store expansion at a time when many brick-and-mortar retailers are cutting back. It also upped its outlook.  
  • Cole Haan showcases new store design

    Cole Haan has brought its new store design to the West Coast, opening a flagship at South Coast Plaza, in Costa Mesa, California.   Featuring an all metal and glass storefront with backlit frosted transom, the store has a natural elegance and warm residential feel.  
  • QVC, HSN’s Cornerstone looking to open stores in Manhattan

    Two non-traditional retailers are on the hunt for space to set up shop in the Big Apple.   QVC and Cornerstone, a division of HSN, are looking for real estate to open stores in the Herald Square area of Manhattan, the New York Post reported.
