  • DDR acquires two power centers for $151 million

    Beachwood, Ohio -- DDR Corp. on Thursday announced the acquisition of two prime power centers for $151 million during the fourth quarter.

    DDR purchased Carolina Pavilion, located in Charlotte, N.C., from Blackstone Real Estate Partners for $106 million. The 94% leased, 852,000-sq.-ft. center is anchored by Target, Kohl's, Nordstrom Rack, Ross Dress for Less, Buybuy Baby, Bed Bath & Beyond, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and AMC Theatres.

  • Actor Patrick Dempsey's group wins bid for Tully’s

    Seattle -- TC Global Inc., which operates 47 Tully’s Coffee Shops, announced that it is a step closer to exiting from bankruptcy with the sale of its assets to Global Baristas, the investment group led by actor Patrick Dempsey, star of television’s Grey's Anatomy.

  • Wags To Riches to relocate to Plaza Sonora

    Tucson, Ariz. -- Commercial Retail Advisors said that Wags To Riches Pet Grooming Salon has signed a new lease for 900 sq. ft. in Plaza Sonora and plans to relocate there in March 2013.

    Wags To Riches has two pet grooming salons in the Tucson area.

     

  • Simon and CalPERS Affiliate IMI form JV to acquire two assets

    Indianapolis -- Simon Property Group and Institutional Mall Investors (the co-investment venture owned by an affiliate of Miller Capital Advisory and The California Public Employees' Retirement System [CalPERS]), on Thursday announced that they have formed a joint venture to own and operate The Shops at Mission Viejo in the Los Angeles suburb of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Woodfield Mall in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Ill.

  • Report: Cerberus close to deal with Supervalu

    New York -- Private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management LP and its partners are nearing an agreement to buy parts of Supervalu Inc., the Wall Street Journal reported.

    Cerberus and its partners plan to buy some assets of the retail chain and take a stake in the remainder, which is expected to remain public, according to the report.

     

  • Macy’s to close six locations, open nine others

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s on Thursday announced what it described as “normal-course adjustments” to its portfolio of Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores that include shuttering six locations (all in early spring 2013) and opening nine others.

  • Report: Starbucks among the bidders for Tully’s Coffee

    New York -- Starbucks Coffee Co. is one of seven bidders for Tully's Coffee, according to The Seattle Times. The bids were filed on Thursday as part of an auction process for Tully's, which filed for bankruptcy protection in October.

    The report said that Starbucks’ offer is for about half of the Tully’s stores. Tully's currently has 47 company-operated stores.
     

  • Two new Nordstrom Racks in the works

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced that it plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in downtown Washington, D.C., at the 1800 L Street, NW building. The approximately 35,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2013.

    The retailer also plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Columbia Crossing in Columbia, Md., a shopping center that is owned and operated by Kimco Realty Corp. The approximately 40,750-sq.-ft. store is expected to open in spring 2013.
