  • DDR and Blackstone JV closes on $2 billion 71-center purchase

    Beachwood, Ohio --DDR Corp. and an affiliate of Blackstone Real Estate Partners VII announced that a joint venture formed by the pair has closed on the acquisition of 71 shopping centers previously owned by American Realty Capital Properties for $1.93 billion.
  • Mattress Firm completes Sleep Train acquisition

    Houston –- Mattress Firm Holding Corp. has completed its $245 million acquisition of West Coast bedding specialty retailer The Sleep Train Inc. Sleep Train operates approximately 310 specialty mattress retail stores located in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Hawaii, and reported net sales of approximately $471 million for the 2013 fiscal year.  
  • Savills Studley promotes Stephen G. Berliner to executive VP, New York tri-state region

    New York, N.Y. -- Savills Studley, a global commercial real estate services firm specializing in tenant representation, announced the promotion of Stephen G. Berliner executive VP & branch sanager, New York Office to executive VP, New York Tri-State Region.  
  • Ross Stores opens 28 new stores in Sept. and Oct.

    Dublin, Calif. –- Ross Stores opened 20 new Ross Dress for Less and eight new DD’s Discounts stores across 14 different states in September and October.     These new locations are part of the off-price retailer’s plans to add a total of approximately 75 Ross and 20 DD’s Discounts stores during 2014.  
  • Winick Realty Group leases two New York storefronts

    New York -- Winick Realty Group has leased two retail storefronts in the Nolita neighborhood of New York. The 700-sq.-ft. spaces were previously ground-floor apartments and had never housed retail before.

    Miami -- A visionary downtown Miami project has launched construction, promising to deliver a mix of uses and a true urban community.  
  • Campbell taps developer for Camden’s Gateway District expansion project

    Campbell Soup Company has designated Brandywine Realty Trust as the developer of the mixed use development for Camden’s Gateway District. Campbell, the State of New Jersey, the County and City of Camden announced plans to develop the area adjacent to the company’s world headquarters in February 2007 with Campbell designated as the master redeveloper of the project.

    The 13 acres earmarked for development are located off Newton Ave., between Admiral Wilson Blvd. and 11th Street.

  • Slate Retail REIT to buy two grocery-anchored centers in Midwest

    Toronto -- Slate Retail REIT announced that it has entered into a binding agreement to purchase two grocery-anchored shopping centers.

    Oakland Commons, a 73,705-sq.-ft. property in Bloomington, Illinois, will be acquired for $8.2 million ($111 per square foot). The 100% occupied property is anchored by Jewel-Osco, a subsidiary of Albertsons LLC.
