  • Vista Cos. names marketing/pr director

    Katy, Texas -- The Vista Cos. said that Lindsay Kaye has joined the LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch team as director of marketing and public relations, effective April 23.

    Kaye will handle marketing, advertising, event coordination and public relations for the LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch mixed-use development.

    Prior to joining The Vista Cos. team, Kaye was promotions manager for Radio Disney.

  • ValueVision appoints Comcast exec to board of directors

    Minneapolis – Robert S. Pick, senior VP of corporate development of Comcast Corporation, has been appointed to the board of directors of ValueVision Media Inc., a multichannel retailer operating as ShopNBC. Pick joined Comcast in 1989 and since that time has worked on ventures including the NBC Universal joint venture with GE Corporation, the acquisition of AT&T Broadband, and many other strategic acquisitions and partnerships.

  • Overstock.com edits its board

    SALT LAKE CITY — Online discount retailer Overstock.com held its annual meeting and made changes to its board of directors.

    Stockholders re-elected Joseph J. Tabacco and elected Jonathan E. Johnson III to the company's board for terms of three years each. The board also named Johnson as its new executive vice chairman.

  • Report: Costco gets OK to open store in Baton Rouge

    New York -- Officials in Baton Rouge have approved more than $7 million in incentives to bring a Costco store to the Louisiana city, the Associated Press reported.  
       
    Costco is expected to open a 150,000-sq-ft. store by next April at the site of a former Coca-Cola bottling facility, the report said.

     

  • Walmart gets its geek on

    Walmart continues its superhero streak and courting comic book fans onto its website via social media — this time the superhero in question is Marvel’s billionaire badboy and Iron Man alter ego Tony Stark. 

    The discount retailer posted a photo of Iron Man 3 to its Facebook page Monday, April 29, emblazoned with a burst bearing the Walmart logo and urging fans to ‘Preorder Now,’ even though the film did not release in theaters until Friday, May 3.
