  • Sports Authority renews at Miami’s Kendallgate

    New York -- Berkowitz Development Group has inked a lease renewal with Sports Authority for 43,000-sq. ft. at Kendallgate Shopping Center in Miami.

    As part of a nationwide effort, the retailer will redesign the store’s interior and incorporate updated exterior signage.

     

  • Five Guys sign into Alameda South Shore Center

    Alameda, Calif. — Later this summer, Five Guys Burgers and Fries will open a 1,781-sq.-ft. restaurant in Alameda South Shore Center, in Alameda, Calif., said Jamestown, a fund manager offering core and opportunistic property funds.

    Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank represented Jamestown in the transaction. SRSRE represented Five Guys.

     

  • Kohl’s donates $1.7 million to support fight against cancer

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s is continuing its partnerships with the American Cancer Society and the Southeast Wisconsin affiliate of Susan G. Komen. To that end, the retailer and its philanthropic platform, Kohl’s Cares, have donated $1.7 million to support and expand education and patient-assistance programs.

  • RadioShack profit misses, revenue up; turnaround expert named interim CFO

    Fort Worth, Texas - RadioShack Corp. on Tuesday reported a second-quarter loss that was bigger than analysts expected. However, revenue beat expectations, with the first increase in same-store sales since 2010, and the chain announced it was bringing on consultants to help with its turnaround.

  • Randolph Mall drafts Dunham’s Sports

    Chattanooga, Tenn. CBL & Associates Properties has announced that Dunham’s Sports has leased a 60,200-sq.-ft. space in Randolph Mall in Asheboro. N.C. Scheduled to open for the 2013 holiday shopping season, the new Dunham’s will replace Dillard’s, which closed in late July.

    Belk, J.C. Penney, Sears and Cinemark theatre anchor the 380,000-sq.-ft. regional Randolph Mall.

    I was fortunate enough to attend the CashStar Retailer Roundtable in Portland, Maine, last week. Beyond getting to spend a beautiful summer day overlooking the sights of Casco Bay, I got to hear a lot of great speakers from companies including Google and Forrester Research discuss the latest trends in mobile commerce and electronic gift cards.

  • AT&T Announces 200-plus retail jobs in South Florida

    Miami — AT&T is looking to fill nearly 235 retail openings in South Florida before the end of October.

    More than half of the openings are newly created jobs for retail sales consultants and retail sales managers from Key West to Vero Beach. More than 40 of the new positions will staff two new AT&T www.att.com stores slated to open in Miami this October.

    New York – Gilt.com is launching the Gilt Insider Program, a new free rewards program offering Gilt members the opportunity to earn points for free by interacting with the site. Activities such as making purchases, referring friends and visiting online sales earn members points they can redeem for benefits such as access to early sales, exclusive discounts, free shipping and invites to special events.
