  • Vantiv turns its sights on small businesses

    CINCINNATI — Vantiv is teaming up with NCR Corporation to offer small businesses innovative point-of-sale technology integrated with leading payments solutions. 

    Under the multi-year agreement, the companies will focus on developing exclusive solutions and expanding their innovative technology platforms to deliver personalized customer experiences that help smaller merchants compete more effectively against larger competitors.

  • Build-A-Bear welcomes the SpongeBob gang

    ST. LOUIS — SpongeBob and Patrick are heading to Build-A-Bear Workshop thanks to an agreement between the retailer and Nickelodeon. Beginning Friday, May 17, customers will be able to make their own SpongeBob and Patrick dolls at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores throughout North America and on the retailer’s e-commerce site for $23 apiece.  

    SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom friends Sandy Cheeks and Gary the Snail will also be available as pre-stuffed minis for $10 each.

  • Hhgregg opens new Ohio store

    Indianapolis – Electronics retailer Hhgregg is opening a new store location at the Dayton Mall in Dayton, Ohio, on May 16. The new 23,000-sq.-ft. store will replace a previous location in West Carrollton, Ohio.

    “Hhgregg is dedicated to the Dayton community and we think local residents will really enjoy shopping at our new and modern store,” said Jeff Pearson, senior VP of marketing, Hhgregg.

    This is true when it comes to retailers and their preparation for complying with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In fact, 56% of organizations reported that they hesitated to initiate any changes in 2012, preferring instead to wait until the Supreme Court decision and the 2012 elections before they took any major actions.

  • Kroger bolsters its financial team

    CINCINNATI — Kroger has named Scott M. Henderson VP of pension investment and strategy and Todd A. Foley VP and treasurer.

    Henderson currently serves as Kroger's VP and treasurer, a position he has held since 2003. He will lead a new team that is responsible for overseeing nearly $12 billion of assets.

  • Action Services Group to provide sign, lighting maintenance for regional Burger King

    Aston, Pa. -- Actions Services Group has announced a service agreement with Strategic Restaurants Acquisition Co. to provide exterior sign and lighting maintenance services for its 295 Burger King restaurant units.

    The two-year maintenance program covers proactive, scheduled quarterly visits to Strategic Restaurants’ units to inspect, repair and/or replace lamps, ballasts, sockets, electrodes, tube supports, wiring within the sign or light fixture LED or non-LED redband, LED or non-LED channel letters, neon transformers and secondary wiring.

  • Dollar General is hiring

    GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General is gearing up for a nationwide career fair to be held at 170 locations in 40 states Saturday, May 18. The event is part of the retailer's efforts to hire 10,000 new employees in May.
