  • ShopperTrak enhances in-store counting solutions

    CHICAGO — Retail technology company ShopperTrak has acquired RapidBlue Solutions Oy, a leading European provider of retail data and analytics. 

  • Tiffany to open Moscow store

    New York -- Tiffany & Co. has announced plans to open a two-level store in Moscow’s GUM luxury department store, located in Red Square. At about 4,520 sq. ft., the new store is Tiffany’s first wholly owned retail business in Russia, and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2014.

    “Establishing a presence at this preeminent department store is a milestone in our growth strategy as a leading global luxury brand and underscores the importance of the Russian market,” said Frederic Cumenal, executive VP Tiffany & Co.

  • Staples, BGCA recruit teen actor to help kids in need

    Staples and Boys & Girls Clubs of America have brought teen actor Jake T. Austin on board for the 6th annual Staples for Students national school supply drive.

    Austin will be featured in the campaign’s public service announcement, now available online and airing on television and radio stations starting next month.

  • Brown Shoe CEO adds chairman to title

    St. Louis -- Brown Shoe Co. said Monday that president and CEO Diane Sullivan has been named chairman of the board, effective Feb. 2, 2014.

    Current chairman Ron Fromm will step down but remain a member of Brown’s board.

    Sullivan joined Brown Shoe in 2004 as president.

     

  • Macy’s CEO named Father of the Year

    NEW YORK — Chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Terry J. Lundgren will be one of three men honored at the 72nd annual Father of the Year awards luncheon to be held Tuesday, June 11, at the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel. 

    Lundgren will be in the company of President Bill Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and the nation’s 42nd Commander-in-Chief, and Major Jackson Drumgoole II, who served four tours in Iraq. 

  • Canadian DIY-ers prefer Home Depot over Canadian Tire

    Boston -- A new study from Kantar Retail and TNS revealed that shoppers prefer The Home Depot over Canadian Tire, Rona and other DIY retailers when shopping for home improvement items and do-it-yourself projects.  

    In the April 2013 survey, Canadian shoppers rated top DIY competitors on a variety of attributes, including assortment, price, service, and community appeals.  



  • Brown Shoe CEO has new shoes to fill

    ST. LOUIS — Brown Shoe Company’s president and CEO Diane Sullivan will have new shoes to fill as chairman of the board, effective Feb. 2, 2014, once Ron Fromm steps down as chair. Fromm will remain a member of the board.

  • ShopperTrak acquires RapidBlue

    Chicago -- ShopperTrak announced Monday the acquisition of interior analytics provider RapidBlue Solutions Oy, based in Helsinki.

    RapidBlue uses radio frequency technology to collect shopper movement information, then transforms the anonymous data into information and insights that retailers can use to manage the marketing, merchandising and operations of their businesses.
