  • Saban launches e-commerce sites for two brands

    LOS ANGELES — Saban Brands has launched two new e-commerce sites for its Power Rangers and Paul Frank brands, featuring products spanning all categories from toys and apparel to accessories and collectables. 

  • Shenandoah Plaza Shopping Center sold in Newnan, Ga.

    Atlanta -- Shenandoah Plaza, a 146,121-sq.-ft. neighborhood center in Newnan, Ga., has been sold to the Georgia Capital Group by RCG-Newnan. Big Lots, Goodwill and Dollar General anchor the center.

    The Atlanta office of SRS Real Estate Partners represented RCG-Newnan in the transaction.
     

     

  • QVC gets jolt from former Starbucks exec

    WEST CHESTER, Pa. — QVC, a global video and e-commerce retailer, has appointed former Starbucks executive Mustafa El-Rafey as the company’s SVP of talent management and rewards. El-Rafey will lead the development and implementation of a dynamic talent management and rewards strategy for QVC.

    He will report to EVP of human resources and workplace services Beth Rubino.

  • Starbucks counts calories

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company will start including calorie information on menu boards in all U.S.-based corporate and licensed stores on June 25. The retailer will post calorie counts to accompany each beverage listed on the menu boards, as well as on tags to accompany food in the bakery case. All calorie counts will reflect the item as made by standard recipe and will not include potential extra calories resulting from whipped cream, different types of milk or sweetener, or other customer options.

  • Hudson Bay shakes up leadership

    TORONTO — Hudson's Bay Company, owner of retailers Hudson's Bay, Home Outfitters and Lord & Taylor, has made changes to the company's executive structure. 

    Bonnie Brooks, president of Hudson's Bay Company, has been appointed the company’s vice chair. Liz Rodbell, EVP and chief merchant for Hudson's Bay Company, will become its president. Brooks and Rodbell will report to chairman and CEO Richard Baker. 

  • ABC Fine Wines & Spirits, Ocala, Fla.

    ABC Fine Wine & Spirits is showing off a new, modern store concept in Ocala, Fla. The contemporary design reflects the retailer’s evolution from the corner liquor store and bar to a 150-plus-store purveyor of fine wine and spirits. It’s also more in sync with the brand’s shifting customer base, which has grown more upscale and increased from 30% to 55% female.

  • Michaels celebrates big 4-0 with mobile craft tour

    IRVING, Texas — To celebrate its 40th birthday, Michaels will launch the first-ever Michaels Craft Tour this month in a specially designed 18-wheeler that features a fully stocked, 1,000-sq.-ft. craft room on the inside. 

    The tour will travel throughout the U.S. from coast-to-coast, visiting store openings, outdoor festivals and other events along the way.

  • Michaels rolls out Mobile Craft Tour

    Irving, Texas -- As part of the celebration of its 40th year, Michaels Arts and Crafts will launch a Michaels Craft Tour this month, stocking an 18-wheeler with a 1,000-sq.-ft. craft room that is transported to various Michaels store openings and other events around the country.

    Other features include interactive social media walls and TV screens showing Michaels DIY videos.
