  • Rite Aid promotes Ken Martindale to president

    Camp Hill, Pa.  -- Rite Aid Corp. has promoted Ken Martindale, currently senior executive VP and COO, to president and COO. Rite Aid chairman, president and CEO John Standley will continue in those roles.

    The promotion of Martindale, 53, is effective immediately.

  • MillerCoors dumps landfill

    CHICAGO — MillerCoors is showcasing its environmental friendliness by taking its Golden Brewery landfill free. 

    The company, which has taken four of its other breweries landfill-free, has eliminated an average of 135 tons of waste monthly that was previously sent to landfill.

  • Estée Lauder vamps up Canadian presence with new GM

    NEW YORK — Estée Lauder has promoted Philippe Warnery to GM, Canada. He will report to Thia Breen, group president, North America. 

    Warnery will be responsible for the growth and profitability of the Canadian affiliate with a focus on locally relevant opportunities, assessing market conditions, building key account relationships, managing operational effectiveness, building capabilities and aligning and engaging the Canada team. 

  • CBL in partnership with Tesla Motors

    Chattanooga, Tenn. -- CBL & Associates Properties announced the launch of a partnership with Tesla Motors to install Tesla Supercharging stations at several CBL Malls across the country. Tesla is building a network of stations that will eventually enable Tesla owners to drive coast to coast in their electric vehicles.

  • Jennifer Aniston joins Saks in cancer cure campaign

    NEW YORK — Saks Fifth Avenue and the Entertainment Industry Foundation have named actress Jennifer Aniston as the EIF ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue’s 2013 Key to the Cure campaign. 

    In the 14 years since the inception of the Saks Fifth Avenue charity shopping weekend, the company, together with its vendors and partners, has raised more than $33 million for cancer research. 

  • Rona to divest HVAC and plumbing division in $200+ million deal

    Quebec, Canada -- Canadian home-improvement chain Rona Inc. said Thursday it has reached an agreement to sell off its plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning business to Emco Corp. in a deal worth about $207 million.

    The division sells plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to commercial and industrial construction customers. The move is expected to add additional financial stability to the company, which is in the midst of a three-year turnaround plan.

  • Southern design gets Belk boost

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Southern department store Belk has selected 13 winners from nearly 300 entrants in the retailer's Southern Designer Showcase competition. Belk announced the winners at an event at its corporate headquarters.

    "We are so excited to add these impressive designers to our Belk family," said president and CMO Kathryn Bufano. "This year's winners truly represent the Modern. Southern. Style. that we deliver to our customers every day."
