  • Bebe slides to loss

    Brisbane, Calif. -- Bebe Stores Inc. reported a loss for its fourth quarter amid weaker sales and markdowns.

    The apparel chain posted a loss of $20.8 million for the three-month period ended July 6, compared with net income of $3 million in the fourth quarter last year.

    Bebe's total revenue edged down to $119.2 million, from $131.5 million.

     

  • Campbell’s taps new Mama's Boy

    CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell’s Chunky soup, the official soup sponsor of the NFL, is renewing the Mama’s Boy campaign for the 2013 season, this time tapping Green Bay Packers linebacker and Super Bowl XLV champion Clay Matthews as its spokesperson.

    In conjunction with the new ad campaign, Campbell will kick off the upcoming season with three new soups inspired by a classic sports pub menu: Hearty Cheeseburger, Spicy Chicken Quesadilla and Philly-Style Cheesesteak.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods to open in Duluth, Minn.

    Pittsburgh -- Dick's Sporting Goods will celebrate the opening of its new store in Duluth, Minn., beginning on Sept. 6.

    The Duluth location will be the retailer's ninth store in the state of Minnesota and its 529th nationwide.

     

  • Rite Aid bolsters managed care leadership

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has promoted Tammy Royer to group VP of managed care. Royer will report to Chris Hall, SVP of pharmacy services.

    Royer most recently worked in the company's pharmacy division. In her new role, she will oversee all aspects of managed care, including contracting, maintaining relationships with managed-care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers and third-party payers and developing new strategic partnerships.

  • Report: Kroger cutting spousal health insurance

    New York -- The Kroger Co. will stop providing health insurance benefits for spouses on January 1, 2014, according to a recent agreement with several unions, Indiana Public Media reported.

  • DSW inks deal at Shops at La Palmera in Corpus Christie

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Designer Shoe Warehouse — DSW — has announced plans for a new store at The Shops At La Palmera, a 200,000-sq.-ft. outdoor shopping center in Corpus Christie, Texas, according to Trademark Property Company.

    Construction has begun on the 18,000-square-foot DSW, which is located adjacent to Catherine’s. This is the first Corpus Christi location for DSW Inc., which is scheduled to open in early 2014.

  • Hillshire Brands expands meat snacks footprint

    CHICAGO — The Hillshire Brands Company has signed an agreement to acquire the maker of Golden Island jerky products.

    Terms were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close by the end of the month, pending closing conditions.

  • GBT Realty adds to shopping center and net lease teams

    Brentwood — GBT Realty Corp. has added four new members to its team.

    Ivan Lozina, a 20-year industry veteran has been appointed senior construction manager. Lozina will oversee construction management for new developments in the Shopping Center Division. Prior to joining GBT, Lozina spent 17 years at Benderson Development Company, managing the construction of more than 20 million square feet of commercial real estate.
