  • Department 56 names a new president

    Enesco, LLC, a leading global designer, producer and marketer of branded giftware, plush toys and home and garden décor, has appointed Molly C. Kinney as president of Department 56, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enesco.

    Kinney replaces Susan Azar, who recently resigned her position after 10 years with Department 56. 

  • NRF: Retailers share debt swipe fee savings

    Washington, D.C. – The National Retail Federation welcomed a new study that shows retailers have passed along the majority of the savings from debit card swipe fee reform to their customers, and that the resulting increase in consumer spending has boosted job creation across the country.

    But the study also shows that benefits for consumers and the economy could have been much larger if the Federal Reserve had set its cap on debit swipe fees lower as directed by Congress.

    Walmart opened a dedicated online fulfillment center in Fort Worth this week and said its largest facility ever will open next spring in Bethlehem, Pa.

  • Nordstrom Rack to make Philadelphia debut

    Seattle -- Nordstrom Rack will make its Philadelphia debut, opening an approximately 39,000-sq.-ft. store on Chestnut Street in fall 2014. The property is owned and managed by JEMB Realty Corp.
       
    The new Nordstrom Rack will move into a completely renovated space that was originally home to department store Bonwit Teller and was most recently held by Daffy's. The store will occupy the first three floors of the historic, eight-story building.
       

  • Class action suits filed against Francesca’s

    New York – At least three law firms and a settlement claims filing service have filed class action suits  on behalf of purchasers of Francesca's Holdings Corporation common stock during the period between March 20, 2013 and September 3, 2013. Suits filed by law firms Morgan & Morgan, Federman & Sherman, and Ryan and Maniskas, LLP, as well as by The Shareholders Foundation, Inc., in the District Court for the Southern District of New York allege violations of federal securities laws in regard to poor second quarter financial results released on Sept.

  • Amazon ups holiday hiring by 40% to hire 70,000 holiday workers

    Seattle -- Amazon.com announced plans to add more than 70,000 full-time seasonal jobs in its U.S. fulfillment centers this holiday season, a 40% increase rise over last year. The company said it hopes to eventually convert many of those temporary seasonal opportunities into permanent roles.

  • Sam’s Club opens new Illinois store

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Sam's Club will open its newest club at 460 S. Weber Road in Romeoville, Ill., on Oct. 3. The Romeoville club will become the 21st Sam's Club in the Chicago area.
