  • PetSmart gives $450K to Children's Health

    PetSmart is teaming up with Children’s Health to help fund its pet therapy program, which will provide thousands of patients with access to canine comfort teams.

    PetSmart Paws for Hope at Children’s Health is starting off with a commitment of$425,000 from PetSmart over five years.

  • Nordstrom Rack announces new store for 2015, two for 2016

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced three new upcoming locations for Nordstrom Rack.

    The company will open a 36,000-sq.-ft. store at Wayne Towne Center in Wayne, New Jersey, in fall 2015. This will be the sixth Nordstrom Rack in New Jersey.

    In fall 2016, Nordstrom Rack will open a 35,540-sq.-ft. store at Hamilton Crossing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The property is owned and being developed by The Goldenberg Group.
     

  • Lowe's to hire 30K workers for spring

    It may not feel like it in many parts of the country, but spring, the busiest time of the year for home improvement stores, is just around the corner. And Lowe’s is wasting no time in getting ready.

    The retailer said it plans to hire 30,000 employees at its stores in the United States during spring. 

    Home Depot is sure to follow the move by Lowe's with its own hiring spree in the next few weeks, especially considering it hired as many as 80,000 seasonal employees in winter/spring 2014.

  • Tommy Hilfiger to open digital showroom

    Amsterdam -- Tommy Hilfiger, which is owned by PVH Corp., will launch a digital sales showroom, at its global headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The showroom is designed to revolutioniz the sales experience for retailers by offering them a more engaging and seamless buying approach. The interactive system blends collection information, sales tools and brand content in one seamless touch-screen interface.

  • Safeway and Albertsons officially merged

    It's the end of an era for Safeway and Albertsons, as the companies announced they have completed their merger, ending a nearly year-long process that began in 2014.

    AB Acquisition LLC, the owner of Albertson's and New Albertson's, Inc., will acquire all outstanding shares of Safeway. The merger will create a diversified network that includes 2,230 stores, 27 distribution facilities and 19 manufacturing plants with more than 250,000 employees across 34 states and the District of Columbia.

  • Solid Gold and Petco team up to donate $500K

    Solid Gold pet food is partnering with Petco to donate an estimated $500,000 of premium pet food to selected pet charities nationwide.

    The program kicked off earlier this month at more than 1,300 Petco locations across the U.S. finalize the placement of Solid Gold's new package design.

  • Lowe’s to hire 30,000 spring associates

    Mooresville, N.C. - Lowe's Companies Inc. plans to hire approximately 30,000 seasonal employees at its stores in the U.S. during spring, which is typically the busiest time of year in the home improvement industry. Seasonal jobs are focused on customer service and include cashiers, lawn and garden employees, loaders, and stockers.

  • Japanese eyewear brand to open its first U.S. store

    San Francisco -- One of the largest eyewear brands in Japan is entering the United States. Tokyo-based Jins, a pioneer of “smart” eyewear, will open a flagship in San Francisco, and launch a U.S. e-commerce site this spring.
