  • Books-A-Million names corporate development analyst

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Books-A-Million has named Michael Rediker as corporate development analyst. Rediker will be responsible for identifying, analyzing and implementing strategic corporate initiatives within the organization, including new business growth opportunities.

    Rediker was most recently with the investment banking firm Paces Battle Group Inc. where he also provided a broad array of transactional and other corporate finance services to bank and thrift clients.

  • Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield, St. Louis

    Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based Taubman Centers, Inc. has officially broken ground on its new Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield project by hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on July 27.

    As part of the ceremony, Taubman revealed a variety of store names that will make their debuts at the new outlet mall, among them Banana Republic Factory Store, Gap Outlet, J. Crew Factory, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, 2b Bebe, American Eagle Outfitters - Off Campus, and Sunglass Hut.

  • Canadian hall-of-fame retailer to replace Herkert at struggling SVU

    MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Monday named Wayne Sales, a Canadian hall-of-fame-caliber retailer, as the company's president and CEO, replacing Craig Herkert.

    “In my new role, I will work closely with our leadership team to improve our sales and earnings trajectory and generate long-term shareholder value, focusing relentlessly on identifying factors that will drive meaningful improvements in our strategy execution and overall performance,” Sales stated.

  • Retired chairman of KPMG joins Wal-Mart board

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores announced on Monday that the retired chairman of accounting and consulting firm KPMG International has joined its board of directors, effective immediately.

    Timothy Flynn, 55, will serve as a member of the retailer's audit committee and becomes the 17th member of Wal-Mart's board.

  • True Value and Epicor expand alliance

    Epicor Software Corporation and True Value Co., announced the continuation of an agreement naming Epicor as True Value's recommended Epicor(R) Eagle(R) point-of-sale (POS) solution provider.

    This 3-year agreement provides more of True Value's retailers the opportunity to benefit from Epicor solutions, according to the companies.

  • Safeway, Bozeman, Mont.

    Safeway has opened the first LEED for Retail certified store in the state of Montana, in the town of Bozeman. The $12 million, 58,000-sq.-ft. store is one of approximately just 200 LEED certified grocery stores in the United States.
