  • LA Fitness leases 43,000 sq. ft. at Metro Center Atrium

    Bronx, N.Y. -- Simone Development Cos. announced that LA Fitness will open a 43,000-sq.-ft. facility at Metro Center Atrium, a new 370,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use project in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx in New York.

    The office, retail and hotel complex is the latest phase in Simone Development’s 42-acre, multi-building Hutchinson Metro Center campus.

    LA Fitness’s new gym is slated to open November 2013, and will join a newly announced Residence Inn-branded hotel at Metro Center Atrium.

  • Sears turns to Seattle for propane proof

    Sears has equipped 27 of its Home Services division vehicles with engines that run on propane gas as part of a broader energy management effort.

    The efficiency initiative involving 27 Roush CleanTech Ford E-250 cargo vans fueled by propane autogas will be deployed in the Sears Home Services Seattle fleet.

  • Hull Storey Gibson acquires Mount Berry Square Mall

    Rome, Ga. -- Augusta, Ga.-based Hull Storey Gibson Companies announced its acquisition of Mount Berry Square Mall in Rome, Ga.

    The 476,778-sq.-ft. mall is anchored by Belk, J.C. Penney and Sears.

  • J.C. Penney opens new store, Cinemark Theatre starts construction at Monroeville Mall

    Monroeville, Pa. -- Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties announced that, on the heels of the grand opening of a 110,000-sq.-ft. J.C. Penney store, construction has commenced on a state-of-the-art 12-screen Cinemark Theatre.  Both are part of CBL’s redevelopment of Monroeville Mall, located near Pittsburgh in Monroeville, Pa.

    The grand opening for Cinemark Theatre is anticipated for late 2013.

    NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Former Johnson & Johnson chairman and CEO James Burke passed away Sept. 28. He was 87 years old.

  • Frye Co. to unveil Boston flagship

    Boston -- Boot and leather goods manufacturer Frye Co. will open its second U.S. retail location – on Newbury St. in a historic building in Boston’s Back Bay. It joins Frye’s only retail store in the Soho area of New York City.

    The 11,000-sq.-ft., three-level flagship store is slated to open spring 2013. It will reflect a fresh vision of Frye’s heritage and commitment to craft, and house specially designed areas showcasing the brand’s product.

  • Foot Locker taps LightHaus to measure customer traffic, shopping behavior

    Vancouver -- LightHaus  announced that Foot Locker has deployed the LightHaus Visual Customer Intelligence (VCI) solution to measure customer traffic and sales conversion rates at all of its Champs Sports stores in the U.S. and Canada, as well as its Foot Locker Canada stores. The chain is adopting LightHaus VCI in stores in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia.

  • Publix declares common stock dividend to be awarded semi-annually

    LAKELAND, Fla.— Publix on Monday announced its board of directors declared a semi-annual dividend on its common stock of 30 cents per share. The dividend will be payable and mailed Dec. 3, 2012, to stockholders of record as of the close of business Oct. 31, 2012.
