  • Target team members get a new place for lunch/dinner

    Asian fusion restaurant Ling & Louie's Kitchen is coming to Minneapolis and it will be located across the street from Target’s headquarters on Nicollet Mall.

    Normally, a restaurant opening in Minneapolis wouldn’t qualify as retail industry news. However, an exception can be made when the location is across the street from Target’s bustling downtown headquarters where it is likely to become the new hot spot for employees at Target as well as supplier companies who populate nearby buildings.

  • Revionics names SVP global business development

    ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Revionics, a provider of end-to-end merchandise optimization solutions, that it has named John Greenfield as SVP global business development. Greenfield has been successfully serving as Revionics’ VP channels and alliances. In his new role, Greenfield will be responsible for identifying, creating, and growing strategic global partnerships and alliances that will support accelerated revenue growth for the company.

  • Macy’s CEO pay package put at $11.3 million

    New York -- Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren had a pay package worth $11.3 million in 2012, down 22% from 2011, the Associated Press reported.

    Lundgren had a salary of $1.6 million stock and options awards worth $7.7 million, and perks worth about $76,000. The decline came from a 63% smaller cash payment for performance, the report said.

    Macy's said the CEO beat the profit expectations for the year but fell short on cash flow, due to a big merchandise purchase at the end of the fiscal year.

  • Kantar study: Target and Walmart competitively priced in Canada

    Boston -- Walmart Canada and Target Canada are very competitively positioned from a basket price perspective, according to a recent report by Kantar Retail.  

    Based on the study’s results, Kantar Retail believes that Target’s “Pay Less” consumables prices will stack up well against its Canadian competition and that the retailer will prove to be a formidable challenge to Walmart Canada’s price position in the market.  

  • Dollar Tree opens at Ridgeview Centre

    Wise, Va. -- Brixmor Property Group announced on Monday that Dollar Tree has opened a 9,000-sq.-ft. store at Ridgeview Centre, located in Wise, Va.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Ridgeview Centre.
     

     

  • Brookstone names new CEO

    MERRIMACK, N.H. — Brookstone announced that it has accepted the resignation of Stephen Bebis, its president and CEO and a member of the company's board of directors. Bebis' resignation will be effective April 4. Bebis joined Brookstone in May 2012.  

    Effective upon Bebis' resignation, James M. Speltz, the company's VP, COO has been appointed as the company's new president and CEO.
