  • Registration open for Kids In Need gala

    The Kids In Need Foundation will hold its 15th annual Kids In Need Foundation Education Celebration Gala Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Depot, in Minneapolis, Minn. 

    A cocktail reception, sponsored by Target, will kick things off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Gala Dinner, sponsored by 3M, at 7:30 p.m. 

  • Survey: Employees’ appetite for social tools is increasing

    Redmond, Wash. -- Nearly half of employees report that social tools at work help increase their productivity, but more than 30% of companies underestimate the value of these tools and often restrict their use, according to a study by Microsoft Corp.

  • PBteen heads to SoCal this summer

    SAN FRANCISCO — Parent company Williams-Sonoma said that its PBteen banner will open its first store in southern California, at The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks Saturday, June 1.
     
    The store will be anchored around a PBteen Design Lab, where teens and their parents can engage with the brand and its products by digitally creating a personalized room on a computer monitor. Using drag and drop technology, teens can experiment with different room configurations and color combinations and see it come to life on a television screen overhead.

  • Consumer sentiment maintains at five-year record high

    New York -- Consumer sentiment for the week ended May 27 maintained a near five-year high level, according to the Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index on Thursday.

    Crediting an improving economy and healing personal finances, Americans are expressing continued optimism, as the Index was at minus 29.7 in the period compared with minus 29.4 a week earlier. The margin of error for the figure is 3 percentage points.

    According to Bloomberg, views on the current state of the economy matched a mid-April reading as the strongest since January 2008.

  • Supply chain provider acquires packaging co.

    ATLANTA — Coregistics, a packaging supply chain services company, has acquired Cano Packaging, a Chicago-area company that specializes in primary contract packaging services for food and confectionary manufacturers.

  • DDR opens Belgate Shopping Center

    Charlotte, N.C. -- Beachwood, Ohio-based DDR Corp. has announced the opening of Belgate Shopping Center, the company's first ground-up domestic development in over four years.

    Belgate is a 100% leased, 900,000-sq.-ft. prime power center located in Charlotte, N.C., anchored by Ikea, Walmart and a complimentary lineup of junior anchors including Marshalls, Ulta, Old Navy, Petco, Cost Plus World Market, Hobby Lobby and Shoe Carnival.

  • Golfsmith tees up in Myrtle Beach

    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Golfsmith International is teeing up for the opening of its first Xtreme golf store in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The 35,000-sq.-ft. space has been designed to encourage customers to try out products in an interactive hi-tech environment before they buy.
