    Reamstown, Pa. -- DORMA USA Inc. has significantly expanded its U.S. presence by acquiring Door Controls, one of the largest independent automatic door distributors in the nation.

    The acquisition enables DORMA to provide its customers with enhanced products solutions and services in the Midwest, and reinforces DORMA’s current strong installation and service presence in the Eastern region of the country.

The chain released the statement the day after a report said the retailer was considering hiring a financial adviser.

  • Sara Lee gets a slice of the school menu

    CHICAGO — Sara Lee Foodservice, a division of the Hillshire Brands Company, has introduced a line of products aimed at the kindergarten-12th grade education sector, focusing on turkey items for both breakfast and lunch.

    Additionally, Sara Lee Foodservice will be participating in the United States Department of Agriculture Commodity Food Distribution Program that enables schools to purchase items at reduced prices.

    LOS ANGELES — Specialty sporting goods retailer Sport Chalet is teaming up with California Triathlon, a statewide network of triathlon clubs in California, as part of its strategy to position itself as a one-stop shopping destination for triathletes.

    The partnership drives foot traffic into Sport Chalet's brick-and-mortar stores by encouraging members of the various participating triathlon clubs to turn to the retailer for the equipment and gear they need.

  • Destination Maternity flagship to open in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va. -- Destination Maternity Corp. has leased 5,033 sq. ft. for a new flagship store in The Town Center of Virginia Beach, according to Divaris Real Estate.

    Motherhood Maternity will close all of its locations in Southside Hampton Roads and move into the new Destination Maternity in September. The new store will carry all of the retailers concepts including Motherhood Maternity and A Pea in the Pod.
