  • Arby’s to launch nationwide remodeling program

    Atlanta — Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. announced plans to launch a major remodeling program across its nationwide network of nearly 3,400 Arby's quick-service sandwich restaurants.

    The turnkey revitalization initiative includes a new building image, team member re-training program and franchisee remodel financing solution.  

  • Weather is no match for Dollarama in first quarter

    Dollarama said that its first-quarter results were adversely affected by challenging weather conditions, but the company reported continued growth in sales and net earnings.

    Canada's leading dollar store operator of 899 locations across the country reported sales for the quarter of $501.1 million, an 11.8% increase from $448.1 million in the prior-year periord. The increase in sales was driven by the growth in the number of stores in the past 12 months and strong Easter sales and continued organic sales growth driven by comparable store sales growth of 3.3%.

  • Lululemon continues to struggle in first quarter

    Despite announcing a $450 million share buyback program in conjunction with its first-quarter results, Lululemon’s shares dropped 10% as it continues trying to regain its footing in an increasingly competitive field.

    Net revenue for the quarter increased 11% to $384.6 million from $345.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Sales at stores and online inched up 1%, primarily driven by an online sales increase of 25%, which offset a 4% decrease same-store sales.

  • Corner Bakery Café plans first Wisconsin location

    Chicago, Ill. — Corner Bakery Café will open its first Wisconsin location later this year at The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa, Wis. The 4,000-sq.-ft. franchise location is near the center entrance at Burleigh Street and 114th Street.

    Construction is slated to begin within the next few weeks. Neo Fourno Inc., the franchisee, plans to open 10 new cafes in Madison and Milwaukee over the next five years.

    Dallas — Speed Commerce Inc., a vertically integrated, omni-channel platform of e-commerce services, has launched Sara X, a pre-configured, feature-rich accelerator for Oracle Commerce.

  • Lands’ End profit surges in 1Q

    Dodgeville, Wisconsin — Lands' End reported that profit for the first quarter surged 68% to $10.9 million, from $6.5 million in the year-ago period, as shoppers have responded to improved merchandise assortments and targeted promotions.

    The company, which was recently spun off by Sears, also reported a revenue rise of 4% to $330.5 million. Same-store sales climbed 3.4%.
