  • EBay still plans Russian expansion

    San Jose, Calif. – EBay Inc. is still planning to expand its operations in Russia despite U.S. sanctions against the country’s government. In public comments made in Moscow, EBay VP Wendy Jones said Russia is EBay’s top priority for expansion of its EBay Marketplaces division, and that eBay Marketplaces should go live in Russia in September.

    Jones also said EBay doubled its Russian buyer base in 2013 and sold $425 million worth of goods there in 2012. Currently, Russian consumers make 90,000 EBay transactions per day.

  • Sportman’s Warehouse plans eight new stores in 2015

    Midvale, Utah – Sportsman’s Warehouse Inc. is opening a store in Spokane, Washington, in early 2015. This location will be the first of eight planned stores that will open during 2015, making a total of 63 retail stores open and operating by the end of 2015.

  • SRS Real Estate Partners hires new associate

    Dallas — SRS Real Estate Partners has hired Daniel Poku as an associate in the Dallas/Fort Worth office. A newcomer to the industry, Poku has a background in economics.

    Poku is a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University. Poku is also currently pursuing a new venture called CauseCakes, with plans to launch fall 2014. CauseCakes partnered with a local bakery to provide cupcakes with wrappers that prompt acts of random kindness for special events and corporate meetings.

     

  • Sam’s Club opens in Oxford, Alabama, July 24

    Bentonville, Ark. - Sam’s Club will open a new store in Oxford, Alabama, on July 24. The store will bring 170 jobs to the community

    A number of health and wellness services will also be available, including a pharmacy, optical center and hearing aid center.

     

  • Sealed Air relocates HQ to N.C. from N.J.

    Charlotte, N.C. will be home to the new global headquarters of Sealed Air Corp., as the global packaging company opens a state-of-the art, environmentally-sustainable campus to house its research and development facilities and corporate offices.

    The $7.7 billion company said over the course of the next three years it will relocated roughly 1,300 jobs to North Carolina from its existing headquarters in Elmwood Park, N.J., and other facilities nationwide. Sealed Air employs roughly 25,000 people and is known for brands such as Cryovac, Bubble Wrap and Diversey.

  • Arrests made in StubHub fraud case

    San Francisco – StubHub, the online ticket resale platform operated by EBay, has reportedly been hacked by a global organized fraud ring. According to Reuters, cyber thieves obtained user credentials used on other sites and then used them to gain access to StubHub accounts and make fraudulent purchases.

  • Crocs restructures following disappointing Q2

    Footwear maker Crocs is undergoing a major restructuring that includes closing stores and job cutbacks.

    The plan comes on the heels of the company's disappointing second-quarter earnings results. Earlier this month, Crocs reported that second-quarter profit fell 44% to $19.7 million.
