  • Rebel flags coming off more shelves

    Rebel flags are now a hot commodity after numerous retailers yanked Confederate-related merchandise from their stores and websites.

    Wal-Mart, Sears and eBay announced their decisions Monday, and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called on legislators to remove the flag from the statehouse grounds. After doing so, sales of Confederate flags spiked on Amazon to claim first, second, and third place on the site's list of biggest sales gainers in the previous 24 hours. Prices ranged from under $2 to nearly $16 per flag.

  • Mondelez continues Facebook e-commerce partnership

    Deerfield, Ill. - Mondelez International has renewed its global strategic partnership with Facebook, with a focus on creating and delivering creative video content and driving impulse snack purchasing online. Through this partnership, the companies will work together to leverage and innovate around video consumption and mobile commerce.

    Shopper marketing firm Saatchi & Saatchi X has promoted one of its senior executives to be its next president.

  • Kate Spade appoints new executive president of North America

    New York - Kate Spade & Co. is naming Emilia Fabricant as executive VP, president of North America, effective June 29. In this role, Fabricant will oversee the company's North America business, with responsibilities across all distribution channels, and will report to Craig A. Leavitt, CEO.  

  • Meijer opens first Wisconsin stores

    Grand Rapids, Mich. - Meijer has moved into its sixth state, opening its first two Wisconsin supercenters. The 192,000-sq.-ft. stores in Grafton and Kenosha have created nearly 600 jobs.

    In addition to the retailer's grocery, merchandise and garden center at each store, the new pharmacies offer drive-thru pick up and the Meijer free prescription program.

    In August, Meijer will open two additional stores in Wauwatosa and Oak Creek. The retailer has plans for continued growth in Wisconsin.
     

  • Saatchi & Saatchi makes executive moves

    Los Angeles – Creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi is making three key executive changes. Julie Michael has been named president of Team One, Saatchi & Saatchi's fully integrated premium, luxury and aspirational brand agency, effective Aug. 1.

  • Amazon makes Echo AI voice device widely available

    Seattle – Amazon.com is releasing its Echo voice-activated artificial intelligence device for general availability in July, and taking consumer orders now. Echo was made available on an invitation basis to customers who wanted to help shape the device in November 2014.

  • ACSI: Customer satisfaction keeps sliding

    Ann Arbor, Mich. - Customer satisfaction with goods and services purchased and consumed in the U.S. suffered a fifth consecutive quarterly decline, sending the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to its lowest point since 2006. According to the ACSI, the national level of customer satisfaction is down 0.7% to 74.7 on a 100-point scale in the first quarter of 2015 and is off 2.7% since peaking in the fourth quarter 2013.
