  • CraftWorks names Old Chicago president

    Chattanooga, Tenn. -- CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries, owner of the Old Chicago, Rock Bottom and Gordon Biersch banners among others, said Friday it has named Mike Mrlik as SVP of CraftWorks and as president of Old Chicago.

    Mrlik is charged with leading Old Chicago’s brand refresh as 55 locations roll out a redesign with an emphasis on ramped-up service and experience.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts to open 330 to 360 stores in 2013; expand into California

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts announced that in 2013 it plans to open 330 to 360 net new restaurants in the United States with growth coming from both new and existing markets, for an increase of 4.5% to 5%. The company also announced that it is expanding to Southern California as part of its long-term goal of having more than 15,000 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the United States alone.  
     

  • Former L’Oréal exec to head interactive sample producer

    NEW YORK — Former L’Oréal executive Serge Jureidini has been named CEO and president of Arcade Marketing.

    Jureidini succeeds Debra Leipman-Yale, who passed away unexpectedly. He will also serve as a director on Arcade Marketing’s board of directors.

  • Family Dollar increases dividend

    New York -- Family Dollar on Friday increased its annual dividend by 24%. The annual payout now totals $1.04 following a decision by the retailer’s board to elevate the quarterly dividend to 26 cents a share from 21 cents a share.

    In addition, the board authorized the repurchase of an additional $300 million in stock under an existing program that had only $94 million in authorization remaining.

  • Shopko promotes former Kohl’s exec to president

    GREEN BAY, Wis. — Shopko has promoted Jill Soltau to president. She will retain her position as the retailer’s CMO.

    Soltau has more than 25 years of experience in the retail industry and joined Shopko in 2007 as SVP and GMM of apparel and accessories. In 2009, she was promoted to EVP and CMO. Prior to joining Shopko, Soltau held several senior level positions in merchandising, planning and private brand at Sears and Kohl's department stores. She started her career with Carson Pirie Scott in Milwaukee.

  • Hasbro and Tetris play nice

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Hasbro is bringing the Tetris video game brand into the world of face-to-face gaming.

    The Tetris Company, the exclusive licensor of the Tetris brand, has given Hasbro the green light to manufacture and globally market multiple face-to-face games based on the popular video game brand.

    Naperville, Ill. — OfficeMax is joining forces with Go Daddy, a leading web-hosting and domain name provider.

    OfficeMax's exclusive bundles of Go Daddy website services will allow businesses to register their domain names, create professional websites and maximize their business visibility on Internet search engines. There are no monthly service fees. One-year service bundles range from simple domain and website authentication to hosting an online store.

  • Five Below sales up in Q4

    Philadelphia — Specialty value retailer Five Below's fourth quarter total sales for the period from October 28, 2012 through January 12, 2013 increased 34% to $158.5 million, while comparable store sales for the same period increased 4.2%.
     
    Five Below has proposed a secondary offering of 7,000,000 shares of its common stock, amid reports that sales are not as bad as originally feared.
