  • Lululemon loses chief product officer

    Lululemon Athletica, manufacturer of yoga-inspired athletic apparel has announced that its chief product officer, Sheree Waterson, will be leaving the company effective April 15.

    “We appreciate the many contributions that Sheree made during her time with lululemon, particularly in the area of design,” said Lululemon’s CEO Christine Day.

    Waterson joined Lululemon in 2008 and has more than 25 years of consumer and retail industry experience.

     

     

     

  • BJ's Restaurants opens in Puyallup, Wash.

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- BJ's Restaurants said Wednesday it has opened a new restaurant in Puyallup, Wash.

    The 8,500-sq.-ft. BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse opened Monday  at South Hill Mall, a 1 million-sq.-ft. Cafaro Co. property.

    "We are very excited to open our first restaurant of fiscal 2013 in Puyallup, a suburb of the Seattle market," said Greg Trojan, BJ’s president and CEO.

  • Former Walmart.com CEO to sit on Staples board

    New York -- Staples named former Walmart.com CEO Raul Vazquez to serve on its the board of directors.

    Vazquez currently serves as CEO and a director of Progreso Financiero, financial services firm focused on serving the needs of "under-banked" Hispanic customers. The election of directors at Staples will take place at the company’s annual meeting on June 3.

  • Home Depot settles paints suit

    Home Depot announced that it has reached a tentative agreement in March to settle California lawsuits related to the sale of paints and coatings.

    The company's recent 10-k filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission report followed up on 2010 allegations that the retailer sold products in three California counties and Los Angeles that exceeded the level of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) under the rules of the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

  • J.C. Penney CEO’s pay package plummeted 97% in 2012

    New York -- A Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Tuesday revealed that embattled J.C. Penney CEO Ron Johnson saw his compensation package plummet 97% to about $1.9 million in 2012.

    Johnson received a base salary of $1.5 million, up from his partial-year salary of $375,000 in 2011, but did not receive stock or option awards in 2012. That compares with a stock award worth $52.7 million on the date it was granted in 2011, when Johnson was named CEO.

  • Food Lion manager get early wedding gift

    Food Lion store manager Charles Inman received the retailer’s highest honor this week and offered yet another example of the growth potential the retail industry offers.

    Inman joined Food Lion in 2002 as a cashier and over the years held positions of increasing responsibility, including produce manager, office manager and assistant store manager. He was later promoted to store manager and was recently selected from among a group of 1,119 store managers to receive the retailer’s Store Manager Excellence Award.

  • CVS settles federal claims in Oklahoma for $11 million

    Oklahoma City -- CVS Caremark Corp. will pay $11 million to settle federal claims that the company’s pharmacies in the state violated record-keeping requirements of the Controlled Substances Act.

    Federal prosecutor Sanford Coats said Wednesday that CVS has agreed to the settlement to resolve all allegations. However, while CVS said that its stores must comply with the record-keeping requirements, it does not admit liability.
