  • Making sense of “mandate” madness

    For months, the debate over healthcare has almost exclusively focused on the individual-mandate, as we waited on the Supreme Court to determine the fate of the law. As a result many complex and crucial pieces of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), such as the employer-mandate, have received comparatively little attention. Given the enormous implications of changes to employer-sponsored coverage and the 170 million Americans who currently rely on it for coverage, it is time that more attention is paid to the issue.

  • Ralph Lauren CFO resigns

    New York -- Ralph Lauren Corp. said CFO Tracey Travis has resigned to pursue other interests.

    Robert Madore, senior VP finance, will assume the role on an interim basis, effective July 30, the company said in a regulatory filing.
     

  • Food Lion expands brand strategy

    Salisbury, N.C. -- Food Lion on Wednesday expanded its new brand strategy to 269 stores in North Carolina and South Carolina. With the expansion, Food Lion has more than 700 locations operating under rebranding, representing more than 60% of its store base. 

    The new strategy offers customers lower prices on 6,000 items, a greater emphasis on private brands,  enhanced produce and an easy and convenient shopping experience, such as faster checkout. To support its new strategy, the company created approximately 800 new jobs.

  • Stater Bros. promotes Harris to CFO

    SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. Markets has promoted David Harris to the position of SVP finance, CFO and principal accounting officer of Stater Bros. Markets, effective June 18.  

  • Stater Bros. names CFO

    San Bernardino, Calif. -- Grocery chain Stater Bros. Markets said Tuesday it has promoted David Harris to the position of senior VP finance, CFO and principal accounting officer.

    Harris joined Stater Bros. in 2009 as VP finance. In June 2011, he was promoted to his most recent position of senior VP finance.

    Harris reports to Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO.
     

  • Davaco names VP business development

    Dallas -- Davaco Inc. has promoted Tim Currier to VP business development.

    In this role, Currier is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and building strategic partnerships with nationwide retail, restaurant and hospitality brands. He reports to Paul Hamer, executive VP business development.

  • CKE plans to expand Hardee’s in Minneapolis market

    Carpinteria, Calif. -- CKE Restaurants is planning to expand its Hardee's footprint in the Minneapolis area over the next several years and sees the potential to develop more than 59 new restaurants in the market.

    “We are excited to expand in the Minneapolis area, and we're now looking for experienced multi-unit operators to join the brand,” said Jim Sullivan, CKE's senior VP domestic franchise development.
