  • Long-time retail exec named to Bon-Ton board

    YORK, Pa. — The Bon-Ton Stores has elected Jeffrey Sherman to its board, effective immediately. Sherman will serve on the human resources and compensation committee.

  • Weber-Stephen names CEO

    Weber-Stephen Products, a manufacturer of charcoal and gas grills, has named Thomas Koos as CEO, effective April 1. Current Weber-Stephen president and CEO Jim Stephen will become executive chairman of the company.

    "Tom's global business experience, passion for building brands and deep knowledge of our distribution channels makes him a great fit for Weber," said Stephen. "I look forward to working with Tom and our team at Weber as we continue to expand and promote our strong brand around the world."

  • Wendy’s to expand into Ecuador

    Dublin, Ohio -- The Wendy's Co. announced Tuesday an agreement with The Eljuri Group to develop 20 Wendy's restaurants in Ecuador.

    As the largest business group in Ecuador, Eljuri said it expects to open the first two Wendy's locations in 2013 in Guayaquil, a coastal city with a population of 2.3 million people.  

  • Marble Slab Creamery set to open first Pakistan store

    Atlanta -- Global Franchise Group announced Tuesday a master franchise agreement with Western Brands PVT for the opening of the first Marble Slab Creamery locations in the country of Pakistan.

    The deal calls for the development of 10 Marble Slab Creamery stores in Pakistan over a 10-year period, with the 5,000 sq. ft. flagship store opening up in the major city of Lahore, Pakistan.

    Marble Slab Creamery is managed by GFG Management, a subsidiary of Global Franchise Group.

    NEW YORK — Online retailer NoMoreRack has announced its plans to expand their business and online presence. NoMoreRack has received $12 million in new capital. They plan to use this investment money to increase their workforce and expand into foreign markets.

  • Rona appoints former Metro exec as new president and CEO

    Boucherville, Quebec, Canada -- Canadian home-improvement chain Rona Inc. announced Tuesday it has named Robert Sawyer as president and CEO, effective next month.

    Sawyer was previously an executive at grocery chain Metro Inc.

    Rona’s acting CEO Dominique Boies will remain as company CFO.
