  • RadioShack’s Amschler promoted to SVP, franchise

    FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack has promoted Marty Amschler to SVP of franchise. In his expanded role, Amschler will continue to lead RadioShack's dealer franchise operations while also now providing senior leadership to the company's commercial sales division and B2B sales team.

  • ODP to sell its stake in Mexican operation

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — Office Depot has reached an agreement to sell its 50% stake in Office Depot de Mexico S.A. de C.V. to its joint venture partner Grupo Gigante, S.A.B. de C.V. for roughly $690 million in cash.

    Office Depot de Mexico, which was founded in 1994 as a joint partnership between Office Depot and Grupo Gigante, has more than 248 stores throughout Mexico and Central America and more than $1.1 billion in annual sales.

  • Scotts Miracle-Gro board members exit following bad language

    Three Scotts Miracle-Gro board members resigned following the delivery of a unanimously supported reprimand of CEO Jim Hagedorn that stemmed from the use of inappropriate language. 

    Hagedorn apologized in a statement.

    "While I have a tendency to use colorful language, I recognize my comments in this case were inappropriate and I apologize," Hagedorn said. "I, along with the rest of our board members, consider the matter resolved and I have made a personal commitment to prevent a future recurrence."

  • QVC names Jastrzebski CFO

    West Chester, Pa. -- QVC has appointed Ted Jastrzebski to the position of CFO. Jastrzebski, who will assume his new role in July 2013, will oversee QVC's financial operations, reporting to Mike George, president and CEO of QVC. He spent the last eight years in global leadership positions at The Hershey Company, most recently serving as senior VP and president of Hershey Americas.

  • New bear-in-chief for Build-A-Bear Workshop

    ST. LOUIS — Build-A-Bear Workshop’s board of directors has appointed Sharon Price John as CEO and chief president bear. She replaces Maxine Clark, who announced earlier this year her plans to retire from her chief executive bear position. 

    Clark will remain a member of the board. 

  • ShopperTrak enhances in-store counting solutions

    CHICAGO — Retail technology company ShopperTrak has acquired RapidBlue Solutions Oy, a leading European provider of retail data and analytics. 

  • Tiffany to open Moscow store

    New York -- Tiffany & Co. has announced plans to open a two-level store in Moscow’s GUM luxury department store, located in Red Square. At about 4,520 sq. ft., the new store is Tiffany’s first wholly owned retail business in Russia, and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2014.

    “Establishing a presence at this preeminent department store is a milestone in our growth strategy as a leading global luxury brand and underscores the importance of the Russian market,” said Frederic Cumenal, executive VP Tiffany & Co.
