  • Target to open 33 Canadian stores in November

    Mississauga, Ont. – Target Canada has announced the opening dates for 33 additional Canadian store locations spanning across nine provinces, including its first stores in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

    Thirty-one store locations are scheduled to open on Nov. 13, and the remaining two locations will open on Nov. 22, completing Target's Canadian store openings for 2013.

  • Petco Opens first store in Mexico

    San Diego — Petco has opened its first store in Mexico and announced plans for continued expansion in Mexico and Latin America through a joint venture with Grupo Gigante of Mexico.

    The companies plan to open as many as 50 Petco stores in Mexico and Latin America by 2020.

     

  • Hudson’s Bay names chief marketing officer

    Toronto -- Hudson’s Bay Company has appointed Michael Crotty as executive VP, chief marketing officer, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor. He will be responsible for the overall marketing strategy for Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor.

    Crotty has more than 25 years multichannel retailing and brand management marketing experience  For the last 10 years, he has held progressively senior positions at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and, most recently, Nordstrom.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods opening five stores Nov. 8

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods opens five new stores across the U.S. on Nov. 8. The stores will be located in Dover, Del., Palm Desert, Calif., West Des Moines, Iowa, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Findlay, Ohio.

    Dick’s will operate a total of 554 stores in the U.S. upon opening the five new stores. The Sioux Falls store will be the chain’s first store in South Dakota. This total will include three in Delaware, 32 in California, five in Iowa, and 38 in Ohio.

  • Martha Stewart Living names metal exec as CEO

    New York -- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. has named board member Daniel W. Dienst, who most recently served as CEO of Sims Metal Management, as CEO. The position has been vacant since December, when chief executive since Lisa Gersh left the media and merchandising company.

    Dienst served as chairman and CEO of Metal Management Ltd. from 2003 to 2008, when it was sold to Sims. He then took the helm at the newly combined company.

  • New leadership team at Hudson’s Bay Company

    Hudson’s Bay Company has appointed Michael Crotty as EVP, chief marketing officer, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor and Russ Hardin as SVP, chief creative officer, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor.

    Both Crotty and Hardin will report to Liz Rodbell, incoming president, HBC Department Store Group, effective Nov. 11.

  • Newell Rubbermaid wins with 3 of 5 businesses

    New product launches in key categories and strong marketing helped Newell Rubbermaid gain market share during the company’s third quarter.

    The leading consumer goods company said sales for the period ended September 30, grew a modest 2.1% to $1.5 billion while net income, aided by the sale of the company’s hardware business, increased to $193.3 million, or 66 cents a share, from $108.3 million, or 37 cents a share.

  • Petco opens first Mexico store

    San Diego – Petco has opened its first store in Mexico and announced plans for continued expansion in Mexico and Latin America through a previously announced joint venture with Grupo Gigante of Mexico. Together, the companies plan to open as many as 50 Petco stores in Mexico and Latin America by 2020.
