  • Destination Maternity Q3 earnings rise 23%

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. announced that its net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 was $8.6 million, an increase of 24% compared to net income of $6.9 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2012.

    Net sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 increased 2.2% to $141.9 million from $138.8 million a year ago. Same-store increased 4.9%. 

  • GNC Q2 profit up

    Pittsburgh -- GNC Holdings Inc.'s second-quarter net income rose nearly 8% amid strong sales. 

    During the three months that ended June 30, GNC's income rose to $71.7 million, from $66.7 in the year-ago period. Its results beat expectations. 

    Revenue increased 9.2% to $676.3 million from $619.1 million a year ago. Same-store sales rose 6.8% at company-owned stores and 5.2% at franchise locations.

  • Hershey has sweet outlook for 2013 based on Q2 results

    HERSHEY, Pa. — Core brand growth and new products in U.S. and key international markets bolstered Hershey Company’s second quarter results for the period ended June 30. The company reported consolidated net sales of $1.5 billion for the quarter, a 6.7% increase from $1.4 billion for same quarter a year ago.

    Hershey’s reported net income for the quarter was $159 million or $0.70 per share-diluted, compared with $135 million or $0.59 per share-diluted for the comparable period of 2012.

  • Global momentum boosts Colgate’s Q2 results

    NEW YORK — Colgate-Palmolive saw a boost in second-quarter net sales as its global market share in toothpaste and manual toothbrushes hit record highs year-to-date.

    Net sales for the quarter totaled $4.35 billion, up 2% compared with the year-ago period. 

    Net income, which included charges related to its restructuring program, totaled $561 million, or 60 cents per diluted share, for the quarter. This compares with net income of $627 million, or 65 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period.

  • Firearm sales bolster Cabela’s ‘strong’ Q2

    SIDNEY, Neb. — Continued strength of firearm sales helped propel second-quarter results at Cabela’s, which reported net income $44.6 million for the three-month period ended June 29, just beating Wall Street's prediction, compared to $33.9 million in the year-ago period. 

    The outdoor goods retailer also reported that its second-quarter net income surged 31% on a 10.5% rise in same-store sales. Revenue rose 21% to $756.8 million from $627.3 million. Direct revenue increased 13.7% to $180.1 million.

  • Cabela’s announces plans for four new stores; Q2 profit up 31%

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. on Thursday announced it will open four new markets in 2014:  Acworth, Ga., Augusta, Ga.; Missoula, Mont.; and Barrie, Ontario (Canada).  The outdoor goods retailer also reported that its second-quarter net income surged 31% on a 10.5% rise in same-store sales. 

  • Lumber Liquidators grows Q2 income, sales

    Toano, Va. – Lumber Liquidators reported impressive gains in net income and sales during the second quarter of fiscal 2013. Net income rose almost 68% to $20.4 million from $12.2 million in the second quarter of the previous year, while net sales grew 22% to $257.1 million from $210.3 million.

    Same-store sales increased 14.9%, driven by a 9.1% increase in the number of customers invoiced and a 5.4% increase in the average sale.
