  • Tria Beauty taps new president and CEO

    Tria Beauty, a maker of at-home beauty devices, has named Peter Wyles as the company's president and CEO.

    Prior to joining Tria Beauty, Wyles served as president and CEO of several companies, including ReVENT Medical and Ventus Medical. Wyles spent 15 years at Bayer HealthCare, where he held executive roles in the consumer, pharmaceutical and medical device businesses both in the United States and internationally.

  • 1-800-Flowers net loss continues in Q1

    Carle Place, N.Y. –- 1-800-Flowers.com reported a net loss of $4.58 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2015, a slight improvement from the $4.64 million net loss reported in the same quarter a year earlier. Expenses drove the company’s net loss.  
  • Kohl’s forecasts Q3 same-sales drop, e-commerce gain

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. - Kohl’s Corp. expects same-store sales to decrease 1.4% in the third quarter of fiscal 2014. The company said October sales have been softer than the balance of the quarter.    Geographically, Kohl’s expects sales to be consistent across all regions. E-commerce sales are expected to increase more than 30%. By line of business, the company expects children’s to report same-store sales increases for the quarter.  
  • Brixmor upgrades shopping center portfolio

    New York -- Brixmor Property Group Inc. has provided an update on its ongoing program to maximize value in its shopping center portfolio. These initiatives involve upgrading its centers' merchandise mix with strong, best-in-class anchors to drive higher sales, traffic and small shop leasing, while elevating center appeal to improve rent levels and shopping center net operating income.   
  • Tractor Supply enters Utah

    Brentwood, Tenn. –- Tractor Supply Company has entered the Utah market with the opening of a store in Perry City, Utah. The store officially opened on Saturday, Oct. 25 and holds its grand opening Saturday, Nov. 1. The new store is 21,930-sq.-ft. and employs approximately 15 team members. Tractor Supply Company now operates more than 1,360 stores in 49 states and employs more than 19,000 workers across the country.
  • Alibaba launches new online travel service

    Beijing, China -- Alibaba Group is rebranding its Taobao Travel online travel business as an independent business and brand named “Alitrip.” Alitrip will be another marketplace platform under Alibaba Group with a new independent web domain, www.alitrip.com.   
  • Macy’s and Bloomingdale's stores to open in Abu Dhabi in 2018

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores plan to open in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2018 as part of a strategic partnership with Al Tayer Group LLC, a UAE-based company with diversified businesses. This will be Macy’s first international store location and the second for Bloomingdale’s.   
  • Transformation costs impact Coach Q3 net income

    New York –- Organizational efficiency costs and charges related to store closures and upgrades that are part of an ongoing transformation plan negatively impacted net income reported by Coach Inc. during the third quarter of fiscal 2014. Net income totaled $146 million, down 33% from $218 million in the same quarter the previous fiscal year.
