  • Bebe appoints merchandising exec for 2b outlet brand

    Los Angeles -- Bebe stores announced Wednesday the appointment of Michelle Landgrebe as EVP, general merchandising manager of its 2b division, effective immediately.

    In her new role, Landgrebe will be responsible for merchandising, design, production, planning & allocation, and visual merchandising for the Bebe’s outlet division, b2.

    She most recently served as VP, general merchandising manager at VF Corp.

  • Beall’s exec joins Publix board

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix has elected Beall’s CEO Steve Knopik to its board of directors.

    “We are pleased to have Steve join the Publix board,” said Publix chairman of the board Charlie Jenkins Jr. “His strong retail and financial background and commitment to the community will make him a strong addition to our board.”

  • True Value CEO Heidemann to retire

    True Value president and CEO Lyle Heidemann plans to retire May 31.

    John Hartmann has been appointed as the company’s new president and CEO, following the retirement of Heidemann. Heidemann will continue to serve True Value through the end of 2013 as an adviser.

  • Rena Ware announces CEO succession

    BELLEVUE, Wash. — Kitchenware manufacturer, Rena Ware International, has announced that Benjamin J. Zylstra will succeed his father, Russell J. Zylstra , as CEO of the company.  Russ Zylstra will remain as chairman of the board of Rena Ware and will continue to be involved in defining the direction and vision of the company. 

  • Walmart donates $1.6M to support fire safety in Bangladesh

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has announced a $1.6 million donation to the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), a U.S. based NGO, to establish the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Academy in Bangladesh. Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, is also a partner in providing support for the new Academy.

  • Banana Republic creative director earns honorary degree from alma mater

    NEW YORK — Simon Kneen, creative director and EVP design for Banana Republic has been awarded a Doctor of Arts honoris causa from Kingston University in London, United Kingdom. A Kingston University graduate, Kneen was nominated and awarded for his 30-year commitment and success in the fashion and design industry. 

  • Cache names two new directors

    NEW YORK — Cache Inc., a specialty chain of women’s apparel stores, announced that Michael Price, managing partner of MFP Partners, L.P., Cache’s largest shareholder, has joined the board of directors. In addition, Charles Hinkaty, formerpresident and CEO of Del Laboratories Inc., has been appointed to the board. In connection with their appointments, Michael Price and Charles Hinkaty have been appointed to the nominating and governance committee and the compensation and plan administration committee of the oard.
