  • Kohl's sponsors free museum days

    Kohl’s is backing up its commitment to families by sponsoring a museum promotion called Thank You Thursday in Milwaukee.

    The retailer will be offering free general admission to the Museum Public Museum on the first Thursday of every month. Kohl’s Thank You Thursday marks the first time ever free general admission has been regularly provided to the public and will kick off on June 4.

  • Walgreens will keep headquarters in U.S.

    Deerfield, Ill. – Walgreens Boots Alliance plans to keep its headquarters in the U.S. and never went beyond the consideration stage of moving operations outside the U.S. in an “inversion” to reduce corporate taxes. At  the Walgreens annual shareholder meeting May 28, Walgreens chairman James Skinner said Walgreens headquarters will remain in Deerfield, Illinois.

  • Walmart aids Texas, Okla. flood victims

    As Texas deals with the aftermath of tragic flooding, Walmart is trying to make a difference in the state where it has its largest presence.

    The Walmart Foundation has announced donations totaling $500,000 to organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Texas and Oklahoma.

  • Best Buy recognized by DOE for reducing carbon footprint

    Minneapolis -- Best Buy’s five-year-long initiative to reduce its carbon footprint by at least 20% by 2020 was commended by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at White House ceremonies in Washington, D.C. The reduction is part of Best Buy’s organization-wide effort to address climate change.
     

  • Toys“R”Us gets social to cure cancer

    Toys“R”Us is launching an innovative social media campaign to raise money for one of the retailer’s most popular causes.

    The retailer is hosting its fifth consecutive fundraising campaign to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

  • Walmart funds path to success in Florida

    The Walmart Foundation is investing in job training efforts in Florida by giving more than $1 million in grants to 21 nonprofits across the state.

    "Through these grants, more than 20 deserving nonprofit organizations will be able to continue funding vital local programs across the state,” said Senate President Andy Gardiner. “Thanks to Walmart and the Walmart Foundation for recognizing the impact these programs have on so many lives. We appreciate their continued investment in communities throughout Florida."

  • Delhaize Group sustainability efforts include recycling, greenhouse gas

    Brussels, Belgium – Delhaize Group has released its 2014 Sustainability Report. Among the sustainability achievements in 2014 across the organization were: obtaining 35% of Delhaize America private brand food sales from products with high nutritional value up from 33% in 2013.

  • Walmart, Tracy Morgan reach settlement over N.J. Turnpike accident

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart and the attorney for comedian/actor Tracy Morgan have reached a settlement agreement, ending a civil lawsuit related to a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike last June. The terms and conditions of the settlement with Morgan and the other plaintiffs remain confidential.
