  • Survey names Kohl's, Dollar General, Lowe's among top brands

    NEW YORK — Harris Interactive has revealed the brands that Americans rank highest in brand equity. Surveying more than 38,000 American consumers, it measures the level of quality, familiarity, and purchase consideration for each brand, and then awards "Brand of the Year" status to the top-ranked brand from each category.

  • Survey: Aldi only grocer to have loyal Facebook following

    Batavia, Ill. -- Survey results released Wednesday by Facebook marketing firm LoudDoor found that discount grocer Aldi USA ranked fifth on a list of the top 20 companies with the most loyal fans. No other grocery retailer was included on the list, which tracks every major brand on Facebook and how likely those brands' fans are to recommend them to friends or colleagues.

    Other companies ranked in the top five include Google, Facebook and Walt Disney World.

  • Kohl’s receives EPA’s highest Energy Star award

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a recipient of the 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for the company’s continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency initiatives.

    Best Buy, Costco, Petco and four other retailers were among a group of 145 companies identified as the World’s Most Ethical companies by Ethisphere.

  • Research: American Express and USAA tops in credit card customer experience

    Waban, Mass. -- Research results released Monday by Temkin revealed that, based on a study of 10,000 U.S consumers, American Express and USAA earned the top spots in the credit card sector.

    According to the 2013 Temkin Experience Ratings, HSBC was the lowest rated credit card issuer for the third consecutive year.

    "USAA and American Express set the pace for customer experience in credit cards while HSBC is a real black sheep in the industry," said Bruce Temkin, managing partner, Temkin Group.

  • Walmart expenses manager to speak at women's network event

    CHICAGO — The Network of Executive Women has unveiled its "2012 Annual Report," which features the personal stories of 10 network members, who explain how their engagement with NEW changed their companies, careers and lives.

    Among those featured are Kim Tisdale, manager of expense payables at Wal-Mart Stores, and Chris Albi, VP merchandising at Kroger.

    SOUTHPORT, Conn. — Sturm, Ruger & Company, a firearms manufacturer, announced that the company has been named Vendor of the Year by Cabela’s.

  • Whirlpool Dishwashers earn Good Housekeeping Seal

    BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Whirlpool announced that its Gold Series Dishwasher with PowerScour, as well as four other Whirlpool Gold Series Dishwashers, earning the Good Housekeeping Seal by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute (GHRI). 

    This announcement comes on the heels of the GHRI awarding Whirlpool Gold® gas and electric ranges with TimeSavor Convection cooking with the Good Housekeeping Seal.
