  • The Oaks attains a first in green building standards

    The Oaks, a 39-year-old Macerich-owned property in Thousand Oaks, California, has been awarded the first BREEAM green standards certification for an in-use building in the U.S.   BRE America, a unit of the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM), bestowed the designation on the Macerich property at an awards event in London this week. BREEAM is the oldest sustainability assessment method for new construction, renovations, and in-use properties.

    Supermarkets and fast-casual restaurant brands took the top positions in an annual ranking of customer experience. Publix, Chick-fil-A, and H-E-B earned top three positions in Temkin Group’s 2017 Temkin Experience Ratings, a cross-industry benchmark of customer experience. Publix had a score of 84%, closely followed by Chick-fil-A and H-E-B, which both scored 83% in the seventh annual rating.

    KAI Total Pavement Management was recognized with Best Parking Lot Pavement Project award at the 2017 National Pavement Expo awards ceremony.   KAI Total Pavement Management received the award for the parking improvements project at the Target store in Kalispell, Montana.

  • Store design competition extends entry deadline

    The Retail Design Institute has extend the deadline for submission of entries to the International Store Design Competition to March 1, 2017   Design firms and in-house retail design teams from around the globe are invited to submit projects for the Retail Design Institute’s annual competition. Eligible projects are those completed between January 1 and December 31, 2016.
