  • Price Chopper received LEED Gold

    New York -- Price Chopper’s store in Warwick, N.Y., has received LEED gold certification for its environmental efficiency.

    Almost 25% of the building materials used on the supermarket were made from recycled materials.

    The store also has a 32% energy cost savings because of better hot water efficiency and reduced exterior lighting, according to the company.

  • Pan-Oston Receives 2011 Domino’s Pizza Teamwork Award

    Bowling Green, Ky. -- Pan-Oston was awarded the Domino’s Pizza Teamwork Award for 2011 at its annual Supplier Summit. The award was in recognition of Pan-Oston’s  teamwork and execution of the New Image Counters, which the supplier engineered, manufactured and delivered within 90 days to six stores.

    This is the second award given to Pan-Oston by Domino’s Pizza, the first award being the prestigious Partner Award for 2007.

  • Hy-Vee executive newest GMA hall of fame inductee

    Ric Jurgens spent the past 43 years working for and building Hy-Vee into a strong regional chain and later this summer his accomplishments will be acknowledged by the Grocery Manufacturers Association when he receives the organization’s Hall of Achievement Award.

  • Hy-Vee names new chairman and CEO

    WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Randy Edeker, has been named chairman and CEO of Hy-Vee. Edeker will be only the fourth person in the company's 82-year history to be elected to this position. He will succeed Ric Jurgens, who is retiring June 1 following a 43-year caeer with the company.

    Edeker most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer, and will now hold the offices of chairman, CEO and president of Hy-Vee.

  • Sam Walton display recieves $1 million for renovation

    Walmart and the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation have teamed up to donate $1 million to fund the renovation and expansion of the current Sam M. Walton College of Business display, honoring Walmart’s founder, Sam Walton. Each organization donated $500,000 to update the display in the Business Administration Building on the University of Arkansas campus. 

  • Crystals at CityCenter honored for sustainability

    Las Vegas -- Crystals at CityCenter, a 500,000-sq.-ft. retail and entertainment center in Las Vegas, was honored with the International Council of Shopping Centers' (ICSC) VIVA Best--of-the-Best Award in the category of sustainability. The award was announced on May 20, during the ICSC's annual global retail real estate convention, RECon, in Las Vegas.
     
    Crystals, which is LEED Gold certified, is the largest retail destination to achieve the Gold level.
