  • Retail CEOs named top wealth creators

    Executives at Coach, Sherwin-Williams, Ross and TJX Companies were among the top wealth creators identified by Chief Executive magazine’s 5th annual Wealth Creation Index.

    Lew Frankfort, CEO at Coach topped the list with Sherwin-Williams CEO Christopher Connor and AutoZone CEO William Rhodes, ranked 14th and 16th, respectively. Other top wealth creators included 27th ranked Ross Stores CEO Michael Balmuth and TJX CEO Carol Meyerowitz. Bed Bath & Beyond CEO Steven Temares was ranked 59th and Amazon.com CEO Jess Bezos was 75th.

  • Chobani tastes leadership success

    NEW YORK — Chobani Greek Yogurt is the recipient of the 2012 North America Innovation in Leadership award for its groundbreaking contribution to the U.S. yogurt sector, presented by Rabobank.

    Grace Simmons, VP of strategic initiatives for Chobani, accepted the award at the global bank’s recent Commodity, Corporate, and Trade Finance Forum.

  • Distinctive sugar brand receives Bon Appétit blessing

    NEW YORK — All-natural, cane turbinado sugar brand Sugar In The Raw has received the 2012 Bon Appétit Seal of Approval in the category of Finishing Sugar.

    The new award from Bon Appétit is a first in its 56-year history. Bon Appétit’s list of must-have ingredients, including Sugar In The Raw, was selected by the editors to celebrate their favorite products. The list appears in their December 2012 issue.

    New York -- Give your new store and renovation projects the recognition they deserve:  Entries are now being accepted for the 31st annual Chain Store Age Retail Store of the Year Design Competition, which will celebrate outstanding retail and restaurant design.  More than 20 categories are featured, ranging from supermarkets and discount/mass merchants to specialty stores and pop-up stores. Entries may be submitted by retailers, designers, architects or suppliers.

  • Duck Tape sticks by the arts

    AVON, Ohio — Duck Tape is teaming up with the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to get students to stick with the arts. To that end, it will sponsor the Mixed Media category and offer a $500 prize to five works within the category, chosen by Duck brand from a pool of National Gold Medal Scholastic Award winners.

  • Gatorade announces National Volleyball Player of the Year

    WEST AURORA, Ill. — Gatorade and USA Today High School Sports have named Lauren Carlini of West Aurora High School as the 2012-13 Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year.  

    Carlini received the news at West Aurora High School from 2012 Olympic silver medalist April Ross, who earned Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year honors in 1999-00.

    WASHINGTON — Top officials at Johnson & Johnson and the Food and Drug Administration are among those to receive service and leadership awards from the Food and Drug Law Institute. The honorees include Minnie Baylor-Henry, worldwide VP for regulatory affairs at Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices & Diagnostics; John M. Taylor III, counselor to the commissioner, Office of the Commissioner, FDA; Alan Bennett, managing partner of the Ropes & Gray DC office and Thomas O. Henteleff, managing partner of Kleinfeld, Kaplan and Becker.
