Bloomingdale's has entered the resale market via an omnichannel partnership with a resale retailer of luxury handbags and accessories.

The department store company is collaborating with resale platform Rebag on an initiative that has made a curated selection of more than 2,500 designer handbags, watches and jewelry available for sale online at Bloomingdales.com. In addition, more than 500 items will be featured in five select Bloomingdale's stores.

The custom-designed, in-store Rebag experience will be located on the accessories floors of Bloomingdale's stores, including The Mall at Short Hills, Short Hills, N.J.; Town Center at Boca Raton, Boca Raton, Fla.; Westfield Fashion Square, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Fashion Valley Mall, San Diego; and the retailer's store in White Plains, N.Y.

The in-store concession will feature a curated selection of pre-owned luxury items available for purchase. Shoppers will also be able to bring in — and receive offers for — select luxury items they want to sell.

The items bought and sold by Rebag at Bloomingdale's and on Bloomingdales.com will be focused solely on select ultra high-end pieces including handbags, watches, and fine jewelry.

Rebag will partner with Bloomingdale's stores management and staff to integrate the Rebag buying and selling experience.

"We are delighted to partner with Rebag, an established leader in the luxury resale space, to meet customer needs with this curated addition to our assortment," said Jennifer Jones, senior VP and general merchandise manager, center core, women's accessories at Bloomingdale's. "The strategic partnership brings a new set of ultra-luxury brands to Bloomingdale's, while providing access to the finest pre-owned luxury items, enabling a full circular experience."

The "Rebag x Bloomingdale's" collection launched online at Bloomingdales.com  on Aug. 8. The in-store component is set to open soon.

Rebag has been launching a variety of new offerings in the past year. These include a partnership with online resale platform ThredUp that allows customers to sell items via ThredUp for Rebag shopping credit and also enables ThredUp customers to shop select Rebag inventory directly on the ThredUp site.

The ThredUp partnership followed Rebag’s September 2023 introduction of a new consignment model, as well as a June 2023 exclusive auction offering with Christie's.
