Best Buy has redesigned four stores to facilitate delivery and pickup of online orders.
In a pilot, the consumer electronics giant has remodeled four stores in the Twin Cities area, decreasing the square footage devoted to shopping from an average of 27,000 sq. ft. to about 15,000 sq. ft., reported the StarTribune. Customers can still shop Best Buy’s core product categories, but the amount of merchandise on display in each has been reduced.
The store has been remodeled to include a large wall that separates the sales floor from the fulfillment space, the report said. The checkout, customer service and store pickup area have been moved to one area with service desks built into the wall that customers can walk up to.
