Belk expands contactless shopping with same-day delivery

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, a regional department store chain keeps expanding omnichannel shopping options.

Belk Inc. is introducing same-day delivery. Customers can now place an online order at the retailer’s e-commerce site and have their purchases delivered to their doorstep that same day. This follows Belk’s introduction of contactless curbside pickup in May 2020, as it reopened stores that been temporarily shuttered due to COVID-19. 

To utilize the new service, customers place an online order before 2 p.m. ET and select "same day delivery" during check out. Then, a Belk personal shopper will fill the order and deliver it directly to customer's door by 9 p.m. that day. Orders placed after 2 p.m. ET will be delivered the following the day. 

Same day delivery is available on select merchandise for $9.95 on orders $49 and up, and for $14.95 on orders under $49. Qualifying items are marked online with a same day delivery icon.

Charlotte-based Belk Inc., a privately-owned department store, operates nearly 300 stores in 16 Southern states - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
