REI has appointed Mary-Farrell Tarbox as VP, physical stores and retail operations.
REI Co-op has named a retail veteran to its retail leadership and corporate officer teams.
The specialty outdoor retailer has appointed Mary-Farrell Tarbox as VP, physical stores and retail operations, effective October 24.
Most recently, Tarbox was senior VP, stores, at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Prior to joining the home goods retailer in 2020, Tarbox spent five years at Crate & Barrel, including serving as VP of human resources and, before that, VP, stores.
Tarbox also spent nearly 26 years at Target Corp., serving in a variety of roles.
At REI, Tarbox will provide strategic leadership for the company’s nearly 180 physical stores and retail operations team, which account for more than three-quarters of its 16,000-plus employee base.
"Mary-Farrell is a proven leader in omni-channel operations,” said Cameron Janes, chief commercial officer, REI Co-op. “Her more than 30 years of leading successful teams across multiple retail environments made her a clear choice. As REI's retail presence expands across the nation, she will have a key role in helping the co-op achieve our aspiration to serve a 50-million-member community."
"I have always admired REI for its commitment to its employees, members and helping get more people outside,” said Tarbox. “I look forward to being part of a great team that delivers on the co-op's mission to support the outdoor community.”
