Apple retains spot as world’s most valuable brand

Apple took the top spot in Interbrand’s Best Global Brands 2022 ranking.
Apple leads the way among 193 American brands featured in the Brand Finance ranking.

Four out of the five most valuable brands in the world are technology brands.

Apple is once again the world’s most valuable brand, according to Brand Finance’s 2025 Global 500: World’s most valuable brands report. The brand valuation consultancy valued the Apple brand at $574.5 billion, up 11% from 2024. The brand value of second-place Microsoft rose 42% to $461 billion. 

Rounding out the top five were Google, at $413.0 billion (up 24% from 2024); Amazon, at $356.4 billion (up 15%) and Walmart, at $137.2 billion (up 42%). See end of article for a list of the top 20 most valuable brands.

Other highlights from the Brand Finance report are below.

Apple leads the way among 193 American brands featured in the ranking, collectively contributing over half of the total. China and Germany follow as the second and third most valuable countries, with 69 and 27 brands respectively, accounting for 15% and 6% of the total brand value.

Apart from Walmart, only one other U.S. retailer cracked the top 20. The Home Depot came in at #17, whose brand value rose 23% to $65.1 billion.

Across sectors, banking leads with 79 brands contributing 13%, followed by retail with 45 brands at 11%. Media ranks third, with 23 brands representing 10%.

For the second consecutive year, WeChat ranked as the world’s strongest brand, with a brand strength index (BSI) score of 95.2 out of 100 and an AAA+ brand strength rating. WeChat’s comprehensive ecosystem and seamless integration capability continue to propel the Chinese brand as a global leader.

American gambling brands DraftKings and FanDuel are cashing in as online gambling becomes legal in more American states.

Methodology

Brand Finance calculates brand value using the Royalty Relief methodology which determines the value a company would be willing to pay to license its brand as if it did not own it. This approach involves estimating the future revenue attributable to a brand and calculating a royalty rate that would be charged for the use of the brand.
