American Eagle spreads omnichannel wings with same-day delivery

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) is offering free same-day delivery through a partnership with a FedEx subsidiary.

Members of the ShopRunner e-commerce platform (purchased by FedEx in December 2020), which directly connects shoppers with more than 100 retailers and brands, can now receive free same-day delivery of hundreds of items from American Eagle and Aerie stores in 50 U.S. cities. During the past year, American Eagle and Aerie have offered free in-store pickup and geofencing-based curbside pickup.

Now, ShopRunner members in metro areas including San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., can receive items from American Eagle, Aerie and OFFL/NE by Aerie delivered to their door within hours.

American Eagle joined the ShopRunner network in October 2020, and initially rolled out its free same-day delivery offering in 2020 in six cities - Chicago, Pittsburgh, Columbus, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and Dallas. This latest launch of the service to 44 additional cities is the latest step in the two companies’ partnership.
