Amazon is making auto parts and accessories available to U.S. customers in one online location, with a guaranteed fit.
In collaboration with auto parts sellers and manufacturers like BMW and Yamaha, Amazon is launching its new OEM Automotive Parts Shop. This new personalized shopping experience builds on the existing Amazon Garage offering, which allows customers to filter selection of automotive products for their vehicle’s year, make, model, and other specifications.
As they shop, customers can see transparent price listings for each item, as well as product and fitment information directly from manufacturers and sellers to help ensure they are purchasing the right product. Customers will see an “Amazon confirmed fit” banner confirming that a part fits their vehicle on the product’s detail page.
Regardless of how a customer finds an OEM on the product page, they can still verify fitment for their vehicle via the “Amazon confirmed fit” banner at the top of the page.
Amazon’s collaboration with OEMs also enables sellers, including dealerships, to list discounts and deals to both local and national customers. Once customers determine the part or accessory they would like to purchase, they can also choose a nearby service provider on the product page, as well as view service offerings and appointment availability on select product and service areas.
Additionally, customers can choose at-home delivery, or, where available, to pick up in-store or ship the item to an installation service provider directly. In some cases, same-day pick up may be available.
“Since 2020, we’ve seen an average 20% increase annually in the number of vehicles US customers have saved in the Amazon Garage, showing a clear customer interest in shopping for parts and accessories for their vehicles similar to the way they shop for other consumer products,” said Ernie Linsay, Amazon’s director of automotive. “This inspired us to collaborate with OEMs to enhance the overall selection available to customers online.”
eBay also ensures auto part fit
eBay Motors, which was launched s a separate mobile app in December 2019, recently introduced eBay Guaranteed Fit. This new program provides a green “Fits” compatibility checkmark on select parts and accessories listings to help customers determine whether the part will fit their specific vehicle.
To take advantage of Guaranteed Fit, shoppers enter their vehicle year, make, model, trim and engine information, or select the vehicle saved in their “My Garage” profile to search for new and used parts. eBay Motors then verifies that the vehicle details match the part compatibility information within the listing.
When there is a match, fit is confirmed with a green “Fits” checkmark on the listing. If the part or accessory does not fit the buyer’s vehicle upon arrival, they can return it for free within 30 days for a full refund.
