Amazon offers new holiday delivery features

Amazon holiday delivery
Amazon is notifying customers of holiday delivery timeframes.

Amazon is providing holiday shoppers a few new ways to help ensure their purchases get where they need to go on time.

The e-tail giant is introducing holiday delivery options that include map tracking. To track a package when it's out for delivery, customers can use the Amazon map tracking feature, which is represented as Santa’s sleigh for the holiday season. On the day of delivery, they can use the map to see when the driver is getting close.

In other features, shoppers can look for the message “Arrives before Christmas” on search and item detail pages if they need an item delivered prior to Dec. 25.

Other new holiday delivery features are below.

Same-day delivery and same-day holiday gift guide

Tens of millions of items across categories including electronics, beauty, toys,  games and electronic Amazon gift cards, are eligible for same-day delivery in over 90 U.S. metro areas, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, Orlando, Detroit, Miami and Dallas. Customers can visit the online Amazon same-day holiday gift guide to find eligible items, as well as look for “free delivery today” next to the product name as they shop across Amazon.

Share order tracking

Customers can send tracking information to friends and family with Amazon share tracking. Once a package ships, customers can visit Your Orders on the Amazon shopping app, select the purchased item, and click Share Tracking to send a link with the tracking information via text, email, or messaging apps such as WhatsApp.

If the item was marked as a gift during checkout, Amazon Share Tracking allows the recipient to virtually unbox the item, send a thank-you email, and take advantage of other features directly from the Amazon app.

Amazon has had a successful holiday season so far, reporting that its Black Friday – Cyber Monday promotion (Nov. 17-27) was its biggest ever compared to the same 11-day period ending on Cyber Monday in previous years, with customers around the world purchasing more than one billion items

“Customers are busier than ever this holiday season,” said Sarah Mathew, VP, delivery experience, Amazon. “Whether searching for last-minute gifts, sending packages to family and friends, or looking to keep that "special something" a surprise, customers can rely on Amazon to make life easier with fast, free delivery options designed to meet all of their needs.
