Amazon to offer prescription kiosks in select One Medical offices
Amazon's One Medical patients will soon be able get their prescription medications at the doctor's office immediately at the end of their appointment.
Beginning in December 2025, Amazon Pharmacy will roll out "pharmacy kiosks" at select One Medical offices across the greater Los Angeles area, including downtown L.A., West L.A., Beverly Hills, Long Beach and West Hollywood. The program will be expanded "soon after" to additional One Medical offices and other locations.
One Medical was the membership-based primary health care provider Amazon acquired for $3.9 billion in February 2023. The company then made Amazon Clinic available to customers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. before changing it to Amazon One Medical with pay-per-visit and annual subscription options in November 2024.
The in-office kiosks are designed to provide a seamless connection between clinical visit and medication access. After a provider writes a prescription, patients can choose to have it sent to Amazon Pharmacy for in-office kiosk pickup. Using their mobile phone to check out in the Amazon app, medications are typically ready in minutes — with no separate trip to the pharmacy required.
Patients will receive a QR code to scan at the kiosk to pick up their medication, which is reviewed by an Amazon pharmacist. Each kiosk is stocked with a curated inventory of medications based on the prescribing patterns of the specific One Medical office where they’re located.

Through the Amazon app, patients can see upfront costs, including available discounts and estimated insurance copays, pay for their prescriptions, and if needed can connect directly to an Amazon Pharmacy licensed pharmacist via secure video or phone consultation.
"We know that when patients have to make a separate stop after seeing their doctor, many prescriptions never get filled," said Hannah McClellan, VP of operations, Amazon Pharmacy. "By bringing the pharmacy directly to the point of care, we're removing a critical barrier and helping patients start their treatment when it matters most — right away."
Amazon has been trying to make inroads into the health care market for the past several years, starting with its acquisition of PillPack in 2018 and the launch of Amazon Pharmacy in 2020.
In November 2023, Amazon began offering Prime members unlimited access to 24/7 on-demand virtual care from One Medical. And in June 2025, the company reorganized Amazon Health Services into six separate "pillars" or units as part of an effort to simplify how it runs health care operations.
The prescription drug market has been busy recently, with Walmart and Sam’s Club offering same-day delivery of refrigerated prescriptions, Walmart partnering with a U.S.-based antibiotics manufacturer and a pharmaceutical wholesaler to provide domestic antibiotics, drugmaker AstraZeneca entering the direct-to-consumer market, drugmaker Pfizer Inc. signing a deal with President Donald Trump that will provide significant discounts on some U.S. prescription medications and have it participate in a direct purchasing platform that will be known as TrumpRx.gov, and Kroger teaming with discount prescription platform GoodRx.
In addition, struggling pharmacy retailer Rite Aid closed down all its remaining stores earlier this week.
"As clinicians, we see firsthand how delays in starting medication can impact treatment outcomes," said Dr. Andrew Diamond, Chief Medical Officer at One Medical. "The ability to know a patient is leaving our office with their medication in hand—especially for conditions requiring immediate treatment like infections — can make a meaningful difference in their care journey."
